Default shortening torque tube

I am going to be building a custom car on a C5 Corvette chassis and the engine will be set back in the frame from the stock location. Has anyone here ever shortened the torque tube and drive shaft on one of these cars? I seem to remember reading that the aluminum that the torque tube is made of is not easily welded and requires special techniques to do so. I would appreciate any information that anyone can give me. Thanks

Call East Coast Supercharging and talk to them. I'm not sure if they do it in-house or if they have someone do it for them.
