Default 6l80e ls3+1964 caddy

My friend has a 64 eldorado vert and just ordered an ls3 crate mated to a 6l80e to swap into his cadillac...He plans on doing it with his friend, and money is no option(as you might have guessed). If they get in deep ^&*( how much would it cost to have a shop do this swap? The car originally came with a t400 mated to a 429. I know people have swapped 429's with 500's and t400's are put and taken out of everything, and the engine bay is HUGE so you won't have an issue with space, but how difficult will this be(man hours, big unexpected jobs, etc.)? The two people are very mechanically adept, but this will be their first swap.

I have a '66 Coupe DeVille. The trans tunnel is relatively shallow. You might have to cut it to fit that 6l80.

I'm not sure if this matters for the swap but I couldn't tell if you meant the car had a 429 when he bought it or not, but originally it would have had a 390 from the factory.

They are getting the engine and trans from a company in IL that specializes in custom swaps. They make turn-key powertrains figure out the standalone, brake booster, etc. so all you need to figure out is how to make it fit, and maybe guages. I will try to get some pics once the engine arrives, which should be shortly.

Vetteman: I was told it had a 429

Yeah, that's what I meant to imply but didn't word it very well. If it has a 429 in it now, it's not original. I'm not sure how that would effect anything you might be doing, but just in case, they originally came with a 390. (Not the same 390 that a 59-61 Cadillac had, those have the same cubic inches but were completely different engines).

64 cad came with 429, not 390. My caddy has original motor/trans but I have been thinking about an LS swap. Will be interested to see how this goes. Found a user on cardomain that has some pics that may help. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/244854...dillac-deville

The only issue is going to be the driver side manifold or header
