Southern Members - florence al hotrod needs help!

Ok so here it is. 1951 belair on air and chassis from a 94 roadmaster. The lt1 ran like a cjqmo when we first put it together.but then we blew apart for paint and now it will not rev to wot and bogs down,backfires and dies when you accelerate. I'm looking for help from anyone that knows anything about lt1s

Did you look at the opti the wrong way?

I did think about it in a bad way. But is there a way to check it? Hate to just throw parts and time at it

There is a conversion that uses the LS1 style coil packs. It eliminates the optispark all together. I have also heard that MSD makes a unit that just about gets rid of the weakness of opti. The last time I seen one, it was about $500-600.

I took mine apart and it had worked the button lose and messed up the cap.i have a snap on special socket to take off the cap.i used it once if you want it.igave 20 for it,id take 15 shipped

is there any way to check it first? just hate to tear it down waste a few hundred bucks and an afternoon for it to be the same
