Cadillac CTS-V - Pics of 285s on stock wheels.
I'm making this thread for others in the future who search. I had a hard time finding threads with pics of wide tires on stock wheels when I was wondering if I should buy these used tires. I wasn't sure if this size would look ok or would bulge too much. I picked up Michelin Pilot Sports off a SL500, 285/35/18s, and matching 255/40/18s for $150 so I figured oh well, the 255s would work as a back up. The ideal size would be 285/40 if you leave the stock 245/45s on the front like I did. From the looks of this you can go 295s but a bulging sidewall inhibits traction. The bulge isn't much here, I expected much more. The grip is good but I did this mainly for looks, they make some road noise compared to the dead silence from the previous Kuhmo Ecsta Platinums (amazing tires).

With stock gearing, I'd run a 275/35 in the rear but since I already have 4.10's, I plan to run 285/40 or 295/35 out back when I wear these 275/40's out.

I'm running a creative steel 8.8 rear.
And yes... Stick width. Had 295/35's on my old car

I was under the impression 275 was about the widest you could go. Seems I was wrong. lol

All 275s and 285s are not equal. Nittos run a lot smaller then say BFGs.
The 285s on the car in the OP dont look wide at all.

That's true. The 295/35's I had were Toyo's. I have nitto 275/40's right now and they aren't wide at all IMO. Nitto seems to run a size narrower than the rest. BFG and good year both run a little wider in comparison.

This is good info cause I am going in the morning to pick up some used tires to get me by for a few weeks till I can get a new set. The guy has some "decent" 275/40s but he also has some awesome 285/35s & I'm sure some 255/40s for the front.

GSD's run real wide...these are 275/40/18's. No issues with rubbing, not lowered.

How things look can be deceiving. Here is one of the 285s against the old rear tire, which is the same tire that are on the fronts in the pictures.
