Generation IV External Engine - Will an SLP 2OTL keep me from reaching my power goals?

I am in the process of removing the LT1 (and the rest of the drive train for that matter) from my 1996 SS. It will be getting an LME 427 LSX + an ATI F1a with a retrofit TR6060/T56 transmission. The power goal is low 900s to the wheels on 93 octane. Obviously, it will be getting some new long tubes and an off-road Y pipe. My question is about my stock 2OTL catback. I have always liked the look and sound of the SLP 2OTL, but I am wondering if I need something larger than a 3 inch single pipe. If I could find a quality stainless muffler that sounded good and had a 4 inch inlet with dual 3 inch outlets, I might would think about having a copy made that utilized a 4 inch intermediate pipe with two 3 inch outlets downstream of the muffler. Anyone have any input as to if I should even worry about it? Thanks.
As it sits now...:

you have a long way to go before you need to worry about the cat back, can be swapped in a few hours after the rest of the project is complete. s/c vs my turbo may change the outcome somewhat... you can always add a cutout.
good luck with the project!

Thanks man. What was your setup in that video? It sounded really good.
Oh yeah, the CTS-V brakes came in yesterday too!

When I had my turbo 96SS I modified the original 2OTL muffler. Internally it splits from 3in to dual 2.5.
I was able to take a cutoff wheel and cut the inlet of the muffler out about 1.5 inches inside from the side of the muffler case. At that point an ovaled 3.5in pipe mated up perfectly with the core.
Make up a 3.5in intermediate pipe and you now have a fairly high flowing exhaust.
At the time, the car made around 850rwhp. I tried a 4inch exhaust with magnaflow muffler and it picked up no power so I re-installed the modified 2OTL.

Good to know. I really would like to keep the 2OTL if possible, even if it means modifying it.

I'd keep the 2otl just for principal...it's rare and sounds awesome. In your case, I would add 2 cut outs behind the collectors for All out performance.
In all honesty, I can't see you losing more power than any other y pipe setup. If you do ditch it, go with true duals or a single mufflex 4 inch setup.

I have made 800 through a dual/ dual slp exhaust Id imagine you will be fine.
