trip to the dyno
so, i decided i would stop being a tight wad with my money and shell out a few $$$ for a tune (and i need to get inspected but im throwing the no cat code). so, i ride over to RPM Motorsports here in NC and i was very impressed with my numbers. Mods to the car are kooks 1 7/8 headers, catless mids, stock catback with single chamber mufflers, and k&n filter with stock air box. first pul made 309hp and 319tq. after tuning, our final numbers were 326hp and 339 tq. i was told that the air box was really holding me back from better numbers. so, an intake will come from my next intake and a catback shortly after. im pleased with nearly a 20hp/tq gain and my car is very noticeably different and more responsive. i will try to upload the videos to youtube and get them posted up. its a ls1 car too btw

Much better! My K&N is different than a normal one, not under the hood--It sits in front of the D/S front tire, hanging down from the turbo. It draws air from beneath and the front of the car.

I'm mixed opinion on the fender well intake. If it is a hot day at the track the track temp right by the front tire is going to be a lot hotter than the air coming in the front IMO.

theres one of 4 videos. you can look at my youtube channel so see the other 4 videos. i will be looking into an over the radiator CAI seeing the logical reasons that you all have posted about them. birthday is coming up soon so maybe i will get something nice from the girlfriend. would a new TB be worth the money and should i have it ported b4 install?

A new TB right now wouldn't be a good investment. You need to have a lot more power mods to need that badly. The 1 7/8" are pretty large too for a 346 with ~326 RWHP. You'd need to get closer to 500 before it would be a great idea and even then it would be for high RPM and not street use. Headers work by length and speed of gas flow. At RPM below the high end not nearly as much gas is flowing so a slightly smaller pipe keeps the velocity up helping scavenging.

i understand, i originally ordered a set of 1 3/4 pacesetters but someone from maryland speed called me and told me that for 200 extra bones i could have a set of kooks, i assumed he was talking about the same size but it seems he wasn't and i didnt want to go through the hassle of return. so, 1 7/8 it is. my goal is 400-450hp but you can never have enough so that could go up. i dont plan on going FI so maybe heads, cam, n20. that should get me in the low 500s yea?
