I did the temp fix and it worked fine for the first few times and then not even a day later it makes the grinding noise when the headlight is going UP.
It no longer opens and closes when I lock or unlock the car but when I turn the lights on the side where I did the temp fix goes up and tries to keep going up or something as it vibrates loudly for about 5-6 seconds. Basically the opposite of what was happening before the temp fix.
Is this because the gear is worn out on both sides? I made sure everything was tightly secured back on.

Yes, you need a replacement motor...you could try these instead of replacing your motors

Yes, you need a replacement motor...someone used to make brass replacement gears years ago, but not sure if they are still available
A replacement motor or just the gear?
It's odd because before I did the temp fix the headlight would go up and down when I would lock and unlock the car and make a grinding noise going down.
Now the headlight doesn't go up and down when I unlock/lock the car, but only grinds/vibrates when the headlight is going up. After about 6 seconds all is well and it stays up fine.
I tried readjusting the arm a couple times and tightening everything.
One thing I did notice was I can lift the headlight maybe 1-2cm more and it isn't tight as the working side.

I'd say the lifetime warranty would be the way to go then

Thanks will go to Autozone today and probably buy just one for now, unless they come in a deal for two.

I replaced it with a motor I bought at autozone and everything worked but the headlight was very dim. I switched back to my old motor and the light was still dim.
Anyone know what the problem can be? The light was working fine just before I took it apart.
Also the headlight I replaced the motor for is a little lower than the other when fully up and a little loose. It has been like this for the old motor as well and I'm thinking its a problem with the arm. Any way to fix it?
