Well, looks like I don't have to worry about doing the Power Tour again next year! The nearest city is 1050 miles one way!

Come on... thats part of the fun..... most everyone has to drive home after..... Was a 2940 miles for me this yr. My brother and I drove to Detroit to just drive back on power tour... 21 hrs straight.

It was my 1st and Ill be doing it again. Looks like 2730 miles for me this year.
Its 1073 miles straight back. One thing to think about is what about all the west coast people who will NEVER get a power Tour out there. Hot Rod's already said its to far between cities to do one on the wesy coast.

One of the guys we talked to drove his 64 chevy PU from LA to each start and did the long haul. Were talking 2200 miles to just get there.... and it was FL the yr before. I think he said he got 9mpg. Im pretty sure u get mid 20's.

Im already planning. The Goat will prob get 14mpg avg so about $1000 in fuel alone.

I know we had a blast and I plan on bringing my son next year. Hes turning 5 and loves cars.

Anyone who hasnt done it your missing out

I averaged like 26 this year over the 2000 miles we did, with a lot of playing We had a group of 11 cars and 18 people leave from northern Wisconsin, and most of them wouldn't even think about driving 1000 miles one way to get to an event ha. Guessing we will go on a different trip as there are some much closer to home than the Power Tour will be.

Wow! That was fast!

If that last day's driving route includes the Tail of the Dragon in Eastern Tennessee/Western North Carolina (which is pretty much on the way from Chattanooga to Charlotte) its gonna be really hard for me to pass up.

The wife and I considered going out of our way when we were headed to Cocoa Beach for the 2011 HRPT to drive on this famous stretch of road. Ultimately we decided against it so we wouldn't be pressed for time, but ever since its been on my bucket list.

Take a look at this link and tell me that wouldn't be a perfect stretch of highway for the Power Tour Route...

^^^^ As a group no it would suck with that many cars on that road and you know atleast one person would screw up and back it up for the rest. Now to hit it up on your way back home hell yeah!!!!

The route from chattanooga to Charlotte is 316 straight freeway. Vid tail if the dragon it's only 342. So 24 more miles. I hope they do that. I've always wanted to do it also.

Nah. Just as long as they have flagger allowing a handful of cars at a time (like they've done at a number of small town intersections on previous Power Tour Routes), the flow of traffic into the Tail would be controlled and allow for an enjoyable driving experience.

You're absolutely right. Leaving early would still be a wise idea.

I'll be there next year, I've missed the last 3 because of work, (I'd have to first be in the U.S. to participate. It's a great time, I long hauled in '09 from deep south Texas to Wisconsin for the kick-off. It's something that once you do once, your hooked!

I grew up in Chattanooga so I'll get to visit family/friends during next years tour, which just sweetens the deal!

I'm pumped. 2013 will be our 3rd long haul. It got a little sketchy this year when my clutch slave exploded in Miami, OK but we made it to Arlington starting the car in first and floating gears all the way home. My dad asked if I wanted to call it quits but I told him "Its Power Tour, dang it, we're doing this thing!"
See ya'll next summer.
