This is the second YT rocker that has broken on me. The first one was several years ago on this same engine. I took them at their word that there was a bad run that they had corrected. They were very responsive and sent me another set all the way from Australia and I had it 4 days later.

This morning, I was pulling the car out of the garage this morning. I got about 50 yards from the house and I heard a rattle and then a dead miss. I pulled the car over immediately. This afternoon when I got home I pulled the valve cover abd found this:

The first time, I had to pull the head to get all the pieces out. Luckily, I'm fortunate that the piece that broke of is one piece and was sitting next to the spring.

I'm running PAC 1521's with .643 lift cam 234 degree cam. The rocker geometry is properly setup.

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt the first time but not twice. This is a street car with the rev limiter set at 6800 and it never sees that.

Needless to say, YT's won't be going back in.

Just an FYI.

Damn. The worst I ever hear about stock rockers.is the bearings puke without the trunion upgrade. These YT totally snap lol. Whats that say about factory vs aftermarket rockers.

Someone on CF found the thread from the previous breakage. 6/26/2010

Holy Crap! I didn't even realize that. I guess these are two year items.

Shawn Miller is talking with Crane about a new rocker they haven't even introduced yet. That's one possiblity or T&D is another. Jesel is just way overkill for the Cruiser.

YT must have some quality control problems to say the least. It sounds like no other damage or missing pieces so that's good.

I went with T&D on my 427 engine build..... the engine builder has had good results with these. We did have some clearance issues with the valve covers. The best valve covers that provided the most clearance for the T&D shaft rockers were the Katech brand, these worked with minimal modification. Just keep that in mind if you go with the T&D.

Damn Kevin....sorry to hear man. Glad it wasn't during one your "spirited" runs :D . You know that experimental Crane stuff is marginal at best ;)

Kevin - did you ever get the Brodix LS7 heads installed or are you still running the WCCH L92's?

What are the max open pressures allowed by YT?

And what are you open pressures on your springs?

Maybe stock rockers w/trunion upgrade are in your future?

Still running the WCCH Stage 3 L92's. I really don't feel like going through the same multiple cam stuff I did for the L92's.

Interestingly, it was the offset intake rocker that broke both times.

These might be a viable option for you.

Definitely can't do 1.8's. I'm at .643 with 1.7 now. Crane has something new on the Spintron right now that sound very promising. :secret2:

Running rebuilt stockers here. I have just about the same cam specs and the same springs. 7K on the limiter all the time. No problem so far..

I ran the Harland Sharps on a cath. build. They left little sprial shavings off the trunnion area on my engine. They never broke .

How much coil bind clearance are you running? Was the break on the same valve/head as your previous break? Do the rockers clear the spring retainers throughout travel?

Kevin , we got a box here full of broken YT's, most of them look like yours that broke.
What we do on 95% of our builds, is the stock rockers with the Comp trunion upgrade. Really a nice setup, and definately low cost involved.

crower stainless rockers are the go wont break them, stainless is the go over aluminium for any endurance setup.
