search around. i guess the vibration sensor goes bad quite often. its in the spare tire well area. I read to just unhook it. might try it real fast

Check if the car has a hood pin switch. I may have got out of whack.

Factory alarms don't have a hood pin switch.

x2 on the unit in the spare tire well.

Mine likes to honk twice after the initial quick honks if it has rained a good bit.

There is at least one other thread on this issue. My '99 Z does this too and it annoys the crap outta me because we just moved into a new neighbourhood and it's generally very quiet. I don't want to be that neighbour with the car alarm. :(

From what I have seen on this board, a bad shock sensor is likely to blame. Does anyone know how hard these things are to come by and if they're expensive?

Cheap & under the dash. Set the alarm wait a minute & progressivly tap on the driver door glass and see how much pressure it takes to set it off.

Uh, no again. The factory shock sensor is on the right rear wheel housing in front of the spare tire. It is part number 10444928 and costs $47 at the dealer and about $20 less online.

I know where it's located...just wasn't sure dealers still had 'em. Thanks. :)

Sorry, my comment was meant for the poster who first posted about a non-existent hood pin switch and then about the shock sensor being under the dash.

Uh yes, i stand corrected. I was thinking of an aftermarket unit.

has anyone came up with a resolution? I have the factory alarm (want to stay OEM) and after the doors are closed i hit the alarm... 7 seconds later it goes off. I read the forum and reacted to the response that says replace the vibration sensor. While at the pull-a-part I pulled a sensor and installed it. I still have the same problem. One other note, I recently had to replace my batter because it was dead. Any suggestions... please help!

OEM and factory are the same thing (OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer). Try unplugging the shock sensor on the right quarter wheel well in front of the spare tire (there's a photo in the Monsoon FAQ sticky at the top of the section), leave it unplugged and see if the problem goes away. That is by far the most common cause of your symptoms.
