Cadillac CTS-V - Finally a good day at the dyno + Help pick catback

Have made several trips to the dyno. Last time was around 365hp and 360tq. Swapped to the torquer V3. Went back today. Made 377hp and less tq. Still wasn't impressed with the numbers. So we unbolted the exhaust at the collectors. V sounded pretty good with just open headers. Maybe a hair on the loud side for daily driving.

Numbers are just about spot on where they should be. It was over 100 degrees and my iats were as high as 140 degrees. I couldn't get any more than 26 degrees timing in it and couldn't lean it out anymore without trying to knock. I know the numbers are sae corrected, but the tune still has more in it even just with more air moving over the car. I could break 400 with a little more playing.

So do I just order the magnaflow complete exhaust system that is a little pricey but I have over $300 in points on Amazon.com right now. Or do I piece together basically the same thing for less? I can do mufflers, x pipe, couple bends, ands some tips for a around $300. Even if I pay my muffler guy to build it will only be a little over $100 labor.

Currently I have magnaflow obdII replacement cats. They are the better ones but still not really a high flow with stock resonator no mufflers. If I can keep it leak free I might can live without cats. Noise I can tollerate pretty well. Current setup isn't really quiet. Still has to be wife or company friendly on the rare occasion I have someone in the car.

Oh and what next? Fast intake? Or some TSP heads? Both and shoot for 450+?

Looks very close to my dyno. Those bumps at mid range bother me a little...

Mine is a LS2 but similar mods and a 224/230 598 608 cam.

IMO. save for boost or juice. FAST is 1000. heads vary to widely. All for 50 more HP.

A good nitrous system is 600 or so used and then you can easily run a 100 shot and make 500 whenever you wanted to.

First bumps are just problems with the tach pickup. Middle ones look about right. My tune is a still a little conservative in the midrange ie rich and a couple degrees less timing. Being on a 111 lsa mine looks about right. The tighter the lsa usually gives a higher peak but in a narrower range. Plus you have a few more cubes to smooth it out. My 117 and 114 cams were much smoother.

The dip before torque shoots up is from extra fuel. I was really fighting heat today to avoid knock. Finish it on a cooler day and that will go away.

I've had the bottle on several cars. It is a blast but 10 years ago I could fill a bottle for $10. Not anymore. Just don't like filling it.

If someone will sell me a maggie I've got the cash. I'm not paying $6500 plus for one though. I would build a butt turbo first.

If you really want that Magnaflow, you'll need the 16636 for your LS6 CTS-V. I recommend picking up a white box Magnaflow 16636 on eBay. $703 shipped. It's probably the cheapest you'll find.

Mine is a 113+2 LSA.

and I love that I didnt lose a thing mid range but gained 30ish top end. I gotta find my before and after dyno.

Wish I had my stock graph. It is at a different shop. Different cam would smooth it out still but even though it looks like vtec kicking in it still makes more under the curve all the way across the board.

And biggie the reason his isnt as smooth as your graph is likely because the correction factor is different.

True. You could also rip the 40-60 feet of fiberglass insulation out of the stock mufflers.

For what it's worth, the stock catback is extremely heavy and you'll lose 20-40 lbs by going aftermarket. The same holds true if you replace the cast iron manifolds. According to my installation notes, I lost 16 lbs (8 lbs per side) when I installed 1-7/8 headers.

Have it tuned with the cutouts open and cruise with your fam with them closed...

Ordered parts separate - magnaflow x, 4" tips, mufflers. Have a ported fast and all needed parts on the way. Now need some cheap heads. Bottle? Maybe.
