Did you mean 243 heads? If you currently have 853 heads the 241 heads came stock on i think 00-02 ls1 motors. There is a minimal difference between 853 and 241 and I doubt you would see a gain. Save up for something different. At the bare most I would go to 243 heads.

If you do have the 241 heads and truly want to do something with them I would reco mend sending them to Advanced Induction and have them worked over....like the 219cc program. They can be made into killer heads, but the 243 is just a killer head as is and would become lethal with minimal work. I am almost to the point of sending out one of my 2 sets of 241 heads for the 219cc HCR (high comp) program....I don't know how I keep having these 241's falling in my lap and none of the 243's. Jump over to the Advanced Induction site and check out what they can do for yourself.

i was wondering about this myself. i came across some 241 heads for cheap as well. I myself have a 98 LS1 with stock heads. dont know the P# off hand but would this be a step in the rightr direction if ported and polished?

You can buy 243 heads for around $400 bucks. It would cost you more than that to get your 241's to flow as good as 243's.
high impact

241 are actually pretty decent heads but you already should have those. 243 will flow a little bit more and are one step better then your current heads. Depending on what you are wanting to accomplish and your budget your current heads may fit the bill.

Agreed depending on what your looking for the current 241s you have could possibly work, but if you looking for more you can have the 241s ported or take a look at some of the different cylinder head options we have available.

No problem soon as i get it back together and dynoed i will post up gains.. his car layed down 404 rwhp before we tore it down so we have a base number and we will be able to see true gains with the 219 hcr setup im hoping for big numbers

Check out threads by Damien in the dyno results section. He's used AI 241s
quite often and has gained in the neighborhood of 40 rwhp.

Ive seen them all one too many times and they were impressive. Ive only seen one guy running the HCR 219s though so Im curious as to how much better they perform..

The 90 degree chamber wall next to the intake valve on the 241s causes
some goofy turbulance and I believe the HCRs get some welding and CNC
reshaping to change/enhance the flow as well as increase the compression
ratio which cammed LS motors love
