Default Car shuts off and on by it's self

1999 trans am I was ou last night and lined up to race from a dig an all is well untill I punch it off the line. Car sputters electronics go crazy. The trip meter reset. And then it all is good it just keeps going. Why?

Then a buddy is following me on the hwy and tells me my tail lights are flickering on and off. And now my blinker light inside the car stays on and the blinker doesn't work.

Had the PCM off a couple days ago. Found the red "pin guide" was broken in there so I pulled it all out and reinstalled the PCM. I also did the fan switch mod so I cut Into some factory wiring (only the ones I needed to cut).

Only other problem is a pretty good sized power steering fluid leak but can't see that being the culprit.

What the hell is wrong with my car?

Usually, stuff like this ends-up being a huge grounding-related issue...but I'll also suggest that maybe your ignition switch is on it's last legs.

The previous owner of my 99 Z28 said the car was doing something similar so he soldered a loose connection in the fuse block under the hood. He said it was a "common problem" and that he found the fix info on one of the forums. He was only on here and camaroforums.com for whatever that's worth.

How's your battery? Does it shut off when idling or driving? Usually that could be a electrical problem (short maybe) or something isn't grounded that's causing it to go crazy.

The launch problem could be the battery moving from lack of battery hold down. Battery shorts on the ac system.

I'd say possible on the battery shorting because the mounting bracket is worthless

If the battery moves it flips back and shorts out on launch. Seen that 100 times.

Your right slow hawk. I tried racing twice in a row tonight and she choked so I popped the hood and seen where the battery flips back and hits the ac mounting bracket from the Optimus side posts... Well I guess I'll be welding together a battery hold down tomorrow!!
