Hey guys,
To you I come for advice again. I'm about twelve hours into the install of the Pioneers avh4400 in my 2002 Trans Am. I used all the info on this site to get it going. I am having trouble getting the head unit to sit level, as the bottom tray is getting in the way and i can't get the power antenna to work. I trimmed the top, installed the Metra axxess awsc steering control unit, and the parking brake override kit. The tilt on the unit is preventing DDmods faceplate to fit right and allow the unit's faceplate to open and close correctly.

So for the fitment, did you guys all remove the whole plastic base tray? Is that enough to support the unit or should i make some longer brackets than the one DDmods supplies? By the way, Dennis from DDmods is a great guy and stands by his product when you buy it.

for the antenna, The thick dark Blue wire from the Pioneer should connect to the thick light pink of the GM harness...right? I tried it, but it didn't work. Maybe I didn't securely attach it? What is the proper way to connect the blue and pink. Can I simply yank out the pink from the GM harness and twist cap it off to the end of the blue? What about the orange wire from the Pioneer harness...it says illumination on it, but there was no place to hook it up to the GM harness. Does this have anything to do with the antenna?

I'm frustrated as he'll...help is appreciated, you're advice rocks,

Rob

You will have to cut out the bottom tray. I tried leaving it in but couldn't get it to fit either. As for the antenna, are you sure you are using the blue wire and not accidentally using the blue with white strip? The pink wire you are attaching to should be pin number 8. I just installed the AVH3400 and the antenna works fine. And finally the illumination wire is not used.

Thanks for the suggestion. I cut out the bottom tray, but still confused on the blue wire. Dennis from DoubleD mods said to attach the blue wire to the blue wire, not the pink. But everyone else has done the pink, and the write up in the stickys says the pink wire is the power antenna wire. Now, which blue wire do I use. The smaller gauge wires that plug directly into the back of the Pioneer do not have a blue wire...only the blue and white which I know I don't use. The aftermarket adapter harness after hooking up the metra axxess awsc and the parking brake over ride still has a thicker blue wire left over and the orange. So I am assuming that this is the wire that is to go to the light pink on the original GM harness. How did you tap into this wire? I tried that tonight with no luck. It is funny to me that I'm plugged into the original harness with the adapter harness and the free blue wire then goes back to the pink wire that the harness is already plugged into?? Shouldn't it go elsewhere?
Wish there were actual instructions for this.
Help?
Thanks

So confirmed from a few of the guys on here...

The thick blue wire from the GM aftermarket wiring harness goes to the blue and white stripped wire on the Pioneer harness, as Pioneer has quite supplying a blue only wire on their harnesses. So darn confusing! But I'll try it tonight. Hopes this helps the brave who try this on their own in the future.
Thanks for all the help,
This board rocks!

yeah, blue wire from gm harness goes to blue/white wire on radio unless your pioneer has some different color for the remote wire.

yeah, blue wire from gm harness adapter goes to blue/white wire on radio unless your pioneer has some different color for the remote wire.Fixed it for you. The blue wire in the factory wiring is for the steering wheel remote.
