Out with the old, in with the new! Forged AP engineering 347/TEA Stg. 2.5 LS6 heads
Well, not quite yet anyway!!! I took advantage of AP engineering's free shipping and ordered a forged 347 motor, should be ready to ship in about a week/week and a half.
The motor's features are:
*Polished & Magnafluxed Stock Crank
*Diamond Thermal Coated Flat top Forged Pistons
*Diamond 4130 Chromemoly Wrist Pins
*Diamond Pro Select Ring Set/ File Fit
*Eagle H-Beam Connecting Rods
*Federal Mogul 152M Main Bearings
*Clevite CB663H Connecting Rod Bearings
*ARP Main Studs
*ARP Rod Bolts
*Blueprinted & Fully Balanced
*Assembly
*Ported oil pump
*ARP Head Studs
*Full Gasket Set
*2cc valve reliefs
*ARP Crank Bolt
*10.9:1 compression ratio with unmilled ls6 heads
According to AP, his block can handle a 300-350 shot of nitrous. I plan on only spraying 200-250 at the track
The heads that will be mated to this block are Stg. 2.5 TEA LS6 heads, 2.055 intake, 1.6 exhaust, O-Ringed, hand finished to competition level, and special nitrous exhaust port....of course the heads will be port matched to my LSX intake.
Lastly, I may retain the G5X3 cam on the 112LSA or go to a G5X4 cam . I have yet to decide.
I'll find out if my current 5.3L heads are fubared when I send them to TEA.

Base price on the shortblock was $2800. All my options (head studs, oil pump, gaskets, thermal coating, etc...) brought the total up to about $3400 after I send my block in as a core.
The heads themselves were roughly $1200 for brand new bare castings, plus I got very good deal from TEA on the porting work for the heads. They will be re-using my springs/retainers from my current 5.3L heads. The heads I'm getting from TEA would normally run a little over $3000 for the full monte setup (including a $1200 core) .

dont overlook the recent success of the FMS grinds with TEA heads.
also...why o-ring? this isnt a boost motor and people have been spraying MUCH more without rings for a while now.
