Default would you fire up a 383 LS1 with .0024main and .0025 rod clearance?

Looking for some expert advice. Used the bearings that came with the stroker and got .0024main and .0025rod clearance. Some of you guys say you put them together at .0015. Looking for some shop input too here. Just want to know if I should rip out the whole motor and start over before I fire it up...then its too late Now is the time i guess but it sucks.

Why would callies ship a kit with .0024 clearance if it isnt the right thing to do? What is everyone elses kits (lunatis) coming in at. Bearings are 152M and 8-7100. I called Federal Mogul and they said .0023MAX. ****

Not sure what the hell to do now.

.0024 will work, it is just a little wide for my taste in a built motor. I prefer to see sub .002".

As far as Callies goes, it isn't their fault. They can't guarantee machine work or anything else on your side. That is why you always have to size your bearings during assembly. Nothing is ever going to be right the first time around.

my 396 lunati went together with .0025 clearance. with kings bearings
.0015 is too tight for a high horsepower/stroker application imo.

.0015 is about right for a stocker assembly, but I usually shoot for .002 to .003 for a HP motor (LS1 type).

When building a intended for power try to keep your clearances between .002-.003. If the engine see's more street time than strip I would keep it between .002-.0025". If you have any more questions just give us a call.

Mine were all .0025 and it holds great oil pressure. Yours should be fine.
