Default Weak motor after overev

A friend of mine was driving my car and accidentally went to 2 gear instead of 4th. The car started bogging and threw the random/misfire code. First thing i did was replace spark plugs. Then replaced ignition wires. Today i replaced the pushrods. After getting in and looking all 4 of the pushrods for intake valves on driver side were bent. BAD. none on the passenger side were. i drove the car after that and now it runs much better than it was. however it still feels much slower than before the overev. and the service engine soon light will flash and then just stay on and then flash and repeats this. Please someone help me.

Find out what error code is set when the light stays on. When you looking around at the pushrods, how closely did you inspect the rockers and valve springs?

You may have a bent valve. I would run a compression test.

You need a valve job with some new valves or just new heads period. You probably bent valves and are losing compression

That is one option - particularly if you are not setup to do a valve job yourself. I would consider doing both heads depending on the mileage on them.

yeah an overrev with bent push rods sounds like it floated valves for sure and intake valve may have kissed pistons and bent the pushrods. Valves could be bent and also the valve springs could be shot.... they could have been severly stressed and lost alot of their properties. Could have valve float much sooner in the rpm range now and thus the car feels sluggish.

if i were you to be completely honest, sell the heads for like 80 for the pair, and pick up some 243s for 400 bucks give or take.......your goona be almost halfway there after replacing just the springs let alone some valves that will need attention.....and your ripping the heads off anyway......mine as well get some extra horses to compensate with the stress of tearing a motor down

243's are great head can be p and p and milled to a 10.5:1 comp ratio

Then you can just replace that one or replace them all or get new heads. Once you take of the head on cylinder 5 there is a posibilty of a piston damage
