I work for a dealership here in Houston and one of our stores in Alabama received on trade a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V VIN #1G6DN57P490172826. Car is black with black interior, recaro seats and navigation.

The long and the short of the story, I purchased the car and come to find out, it doesn't have a stock bottom end. Car runs great and I am super happy with everything.....I REALLY want to know more about who did the work and what all has been done to the car.

Short block is orange, may or may not be an LSX. Everything on top, to the best of my knowledge looks stock. Car does have an aftermarket spoiler and Corsa Catback exhaust.

Please PM me if you have any information.

Thanks.!

J.R.

Check out ctsvowners.com if you haven't already. That's where the mod-happy V2 guys hang. Most of us chickens over here are the V1 crowd.

Did you wreck the z06?

That is definitely an LSX block. That is the additional head bolt boss circled. The heads however are not 6 bolt per cylinder heads.

Or a loser(sorry op), that shortblock alone is prolly north of 10k. Not something people usually part with.

Most states have a law that the dealer must provide an individual with the prior owners information. You should be able to contact them and get the story on the car. You could also have the Cadillac dealer run the vin and give you the service history.

Keep us posted.

They will give you a print out of the work that has been done thats in their system but they dont give you any contact info.

This car was actually traded in to our mercedes-benz of Massapequa store.....up in New York. No luck getting into contact with the original owner thus far. I'll keep you guys posted.

Good luck in getting details on it. If I were going to keep it I would have to start tearing it down just to see what I had. I guess that I am just curious.

Get it to a track or on the dyno to see what kind of numbers that it is capable of.

I dunno about tearing it down, but I'd be looking for some type of ID #'s.

I've been out of the game for a minute so bare with me here.

I did get a casting number off the heads....they are 8452's, which is an LS7 head. Not sure if they work with an LSX block.

I believe they work, but as pictured omit the extra bolts on the block.

Maybe curtis build or one of wait for me builds. Sounds familiar with the Lsx block and 4 bolt heads.

It is definately an LSX, Bowtie emblems on the block and the breathing pockets on the sides of the block are easy to pick up when you know what you are looking for.

Still trying to get more information on the build before I decide to keep it or go another route.

Update soon.

That blower is definately not supposed to bolt up to an ls7 head. Sobim sure there is some serious port overlap

Jesse from wait4me has this setup. If I had to guess I would say this motor is from him and if it is the block is a 434 LSX block. I have a 434 LSX block with 6 bolt LSX LS7 heads and before I put my TT kit on I was running the stock blower. The stock blower fits on LS7 heads as long as you have a spacer.

Yeah it is one of our builds. There are over 150 of them out there running around.

If it is the ls7 heads, it does have a spacer setup we built, unless you are running one of our aftermarket superchargers "Black in color".

It is a 434 lsx engine, wiesco pistons, callies crank, and callies 1500hp rods.
Heads will be cnc ported with del west titanium valves.

I cant give out the customers name, but it was a nice build. Cam was in the 650 lift range if i remember right.

10pounds of boost.

so the real question is why was it traded in at a mercedes dealer? did some one get some kind of dope AMG car or does it have issues and was time to dump or was it beat to hell and dumped before it got issues...just weird to see a bad ass built car dropped off at a dealer like that

BudRacing

Not everyone is a forum geek like us. Nor do many people have an allegiance to one brand or model. I'd say it's pretty likely that someone switched it up for an AMG of some sort. Nice snag by the OP though.

SL65 or maybe a slr? There are alot of upgraded cars to choose from. Maybe the seller just wanted something else... It is 4 years old..

I was thinking a Smart ForTwo but you guys are probably right a nice AMG would be hard to turn down.

Wait4me...

Car runs fantastic, tune seems to be dead on...car is a puppy dog when not in boost.
My wife has even driven it and doesn't know the wiser.

Odd things....stock exhaust manifolds, definately no spacer on the heads, and there appears to be a spacer on the blower.

Thoughts.?

That customer just wanted lots of power/torque but to be as quiet as possible. With headers it would have added more power, but he wanted quiet.

His next step for more power was:
Nitrous, or tvs2300 blower setup, with headers/stock mufflers.

Makes sense.
I sent you a PM BTW.

Can you fill me in on the cam specs.?

There seems to be very little overlap in the cam.....it certainly is nice and quiet.

That was going to be my next question...I always dreamed of coming across something like this that the dealer has no clue about.

The fact that this wasn't brought to the dealers attention (which would have enabled the previous owner to ask more, enabling the dealers to ask more) makes me wonder what's broken/about to break.

Dealers could also offer less for a modified vehicle. It's probably best that he kept his mouth shut.

You are exactly right....I work at a dealership.

I got the car at a good price, but I certainly didn't "steal" it.

I also work for a dealer. I can tell you that in the 2 states I've worked in dealers (1200 miles apart) none gave more money on trade for a modified car. Typically they give LESS and send the car to auction. This is because of possible headaches within the specified/implied warranty period.
Say for example in this case:
Previous owner disclosed ALL info of vehicle. Dealer completed trade deal and sold car with a specified warranty. 1 month later, the custom built 434 ci motor decides it no longer likes the #5 rod and spits it out the block. That dealer is now responsible to have the same motor/specs/build type be put back between the fenders. Caddy won't fit the bill for a built motor, so it would be up to the dealer to man up. If they don't, it's an easy court case for the purchaser.
