'99z28 vs v6 mustang vs newer GT So the other night I was heading north on the 5 just past the most magical and happiest place on earth(Disneyland) when a newer mustang GT comes up next to me on the freeway, I say newer because I don't know what years look like what, all I can say is he did have the sequential turn signals. I kept pace with him and kept looking over but he wouldn't bite, I got stuck behind a car that was moving slow and he passed me, then a v6 mustang does a ricer fly by on the both of us. I pull around the slower car and speed back up, at this point I just want to get the gt to bite, but the guy in the v6 mustang slows down and gets next to me and starts pacing me, knowing this is going to be a slaughter I leave the car in 5th at around 45-50 miles an hour.
He honks 3 times and jumps out in front of me, the whole time I stay in 5th and reel him in, by the time I let off at around 110 I had put at least 2-3 bus lengths on him. Thought it was pretty funny and reached over and flashed my 4 ways at him. Not really caring about it anymore I get stuck behind another slower car, this time the GT and the v6 go flying past me, then I notice they both put their brakes on just ahead and stayed dead even waiting for me, I pull up next to them, this time wanting to get the gt I dropped the car into 4th, I stayed even with them around maybe 50-55, can't really say how fast we were going but I was taching around 3300 rpms, the v6 guys honks 3 times and this time I don't even let either one of them think they have the win.
I get the jump and immediately pop out half a car length on both of them and continue to pull away, I didn't even up shift into 5th gear, I got all the way up to around 5500 rpms and then I just pushed in the clutch and threw the car into neutral, the gt went roaring past me and didn't even slow down and got off at the next exit, I didn't even bother with the v6 anymore and got off one exit down on the way to a friends house.
All in all I knew the v6 had no chance and I was pretty certain the gt didn't either but just because they were junkstangs I thought I'd give it a go as this was the first time I've lined up against anyone in my camaro.
Mods for my car at the time were: SLP long tubes with custom ory and magnaflow catback EGR delete and no tune yet. I got my whisper lid in the mail the next day so that's on the car now, stock for the most part except the exhaust and lid.
Sorry for the long post, and if I get blasted for racing a v6 stang oh well, to make it somewhat of a more even race I stayed in 5th and out of the powerband initially lol

I know V6 Mustangs are not the fastest cars on the road, but at 45-50 in 5th gear, any roadworthy automobile should have put an insurmountable lead on you. Do you have like a 6.75 rear gear ratio, or were you going 600 mph when you passed him?

I might have been between 50-60, but I was in 5th. He did put a lead on me initially but I stopped his pull and caught up to him and pulled away, I wish I had videos but I don't. I wish I passed him at 600 mph haha
