Default 2001 WS6 vs. 2008ish 335i *Vid*

So last night a buddy and I were coming home from a friends house in Mexico. He wanted to drive my car so I said why not (he hasn't had a decent car in a while).

Well we're cruising down the road at about midnight, and in the distance I see a 335i. I figured it would be and older person who wouldn't even look over, but as soon as we got next to him he looked over and was ready to go. My friend can drive pretty well so I was confident that we would put up a good fight regardless.

Once the road straightened out I got the camera out and this is what happened. Sorry about the shitty video. I didn't think about having the window open and the annoying wind noise until after the fact, I hate when people do that in videos too.

He was alone and I was the passenger in my car lol.

335i:

-Claimed "400 crank hp"

2001 WS6:

-Lid/LT's/ORY/Catback/TB/3:23's/M6

(My car has 3:23's instead of 3:42's because my 10 bolt broke a while back and I needed a quick fix, haven't had to chance to get gears yet)

Race was from a 1st gear roll, we let off mid 4th gear.

Yup your right, he didn't say it was stock though. Can't remember what he said he had done, but he said something.

Did he say it had a JB4(juicebox), Procede, or Cobb tune? If a guy is saying 400crank he probably is a tune or tune/intake only car. Good kill btw, those bimmers can be nasty and I know when I had bolt ons and a stall on my TA I was able to pull a length or two on it with a tune and intake on my bimmer.

FWIW the 300hp/300tq rating is a little underrated as to keep the 335i comfortably away from the M3. Very similar to what GM did for years to keep the ls1 fbodies underrated from the corvette granted they shared the same platform and the M3 is a totally different animal. It's not uncommon for 335i's to put down 330-360whp tune only

I was hoping you would chime in!

Yea I think he said one of those, it wasn't Cobb so maybe one of the other two.

And thanks! I know the potential they have so I'm always a little weary that the one I run is going to be a big sleeper lol. Good to know that they're under rated a bit, I've always liked them and thought they were pretty quick for the power. Funny thing is I actually got a small run in with another one the day before, just didn't bother posting it because I didn't get it on video.

There are a few in my area that are modded pretty well, that I know would whoop my ***. I'm just glad I didn't run into one of those guys!
