Picked up a used Ford 8.8 IRS to put in my CTS-V but the inside of the case is pretty dirty from sitting in a garage with the cover off. Is it OK to shoot some brake clean in there to get the junk out or is there another way to clean it up short of pulling it apart.
Thanks

Nope that should be fine. Maybe do that then air hose to try to get any left out.

Thanks....My only concern was the carbon clutches but with the weak crap they sell in CA I wasn't that worried.

I do it all the time. I wouldn't spray directly at the clutches though.

You'll be fine. I Rebuilt my rear a few weeks ago and ended up using a can of brake cleaner and it's fine.
