ok thanks i am ordering bearings for my swap im in high school and our autoshop id ******* gay so i would rather get info from real world people then mu burnt out instructor lol nice elky mines going in a 81 malibu

Yup, undersized adds material to the inside of the bearing (for turning the crank) oversized thee is more material on the outside of the bearing (to fit a bigger bore)

^ buy that number he gave you...........when you buy bearings the "size" they refer to is the conditoin of the crank not the bearing and "undersize" bearing is for an Undersize crank.........usually bearing number that end in an "x" will be .001 oversize or looser.......the ones that end in a number like -1 or -10 are undersize and will tighten up the housing bore

a line hone is done by cutting the caps. A line bore is simply boring the housing out to a larger, diameter to fix major problems.
if the bore is too out of round, so much will have to be removed from the caps to make it round again, it will change the crank centerline too much, causing other problems.
more often than not...
but there are engines out there that will be bored for different reasons. or you will see it in cracked cap rods such as LS rods.
