Default How can I tell if my new WS6 has the 1LE driveshaft?

It looks like I'll be buying a '96 WS6 and I'd like to know if it has the 1LE driveshaft. Will it look any different than stock? If it never had this work done, is it far too late now to do it?

And if it does not have the 1LE shaft is it still possible to get one for free under the old recall?

Not a chance. It was never a recall, anyway. It was a TSB.

Yup, I remember wayyyy back in the day around 1997, I took my 95' in and complained about the driveshaft and vibration and they installed the Aluminum one without any questions. Pretty good upgrade for free.

Negative. Its closer to 2.750" diameter with a thicker wall thickness than the LS1 DS. The 1LE DS is believed to be a stronger unit than the LS1 DS too.

Even with the TSB number and description in hand I had to fight for over an hour with a team of morons who said, "You shouldn't be driving over 75mph...." and after they were finally proven wrong they then said, "You're lucky we replaced this. We only did it because your car is a SS..." **** Frank Parra of Irving, TX.

Were there any balancing issues with the 1LE shaft as there were with the steel shafts?

Not when new. After mine was replaced it was smooth as glass.
