Here's the first vent thread ive ever made.

First off ive put somewhere around $10,000 into my car. I love how everything runs, it's fast enough for me. Ive fixed the shifter, lowered it,wheels, supercharger, cam, etc etc

ive noticed my diff starting to get louder the past 5,000 miles. Granted I only put 10,000 or less on it a year. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who wants to shell out $3500 for a new rear setup on a car that's worth 25-28k as it sits.

I'll say this right now. If they had put something similar to the 8.8 or 9" setup in this car to begin with i'd keep it till the thing fucken blew up.

Granted ill be in a V2 hopefully in a couple months, i'm gonna miss my car for it's nice lines, raw feel and shitty interior (which I like for some reason)

Anyone else feel this way?

Thanks for goddamn listening, happy 4th :usa:

already had an offer for 25K :)

Some people like buying modded cars. Especially when they know what shop did the work

I'd be crazy to sell my car for 20k...............

Ive had a guy offer me 28k for my cobra and i paid 24k for it a month before, an offer means jack until the cash is in your hand.

The diff situation is the main reason my car is gone. While I miss it im glad to be in a car that can and has been built to take whatever i throw at it. I could never imagine the setup I have in the cobra in the cts-v and feel good about it.

we'll the offer still stands, cause its my buddie that wants it. He has for a while. But I told him not until I find a V2

Ice cold a/c and power steering. With the cutout closed its about as loud as a stock v also. Never know it made the power it does :chug:

Thats why pretty much my first mod is the 8.8 swap. From there my only worries are the 5/6 gear failure and valve spring failure. The diff swap takes care of three issues for me with one shot....driveshaft, wheel hop and getrag.

10K? You have not even started modding yet. Get back at it. There is so much you can do to these cars.

I never thought I was gonna get that deep into this car. And it's at it's max with my setup now. so I think moving on would be the best thing.

My buddie would be going from an A4 with a KO4 kit to my car. So I think that is a good step

That sucks.

I love my 05 V. But then again, its super reliable, and stupid fast for what it has. So yea, I love it.

I like my '04 V, but bought it knowing I would not modify it - at all. Not worth it. Rather save the $$$ for a V2 - as soon as I find the right one.:)

I'll be going soon. It's in the shop as we speak having the cowl hood and new front bumper cover painted. When it comes out, I have a couple things to do and then I'm gonna find some sticky tires and take it to the track... :burn:

So you supercharged it, and wonder why the rear is making so much noise??? am i missing a key detail?

I'm just too cheap to modify my car as much as i would love to. you have all the money in it now you should drive it for awhile an enjoy it some more... even if you have to put a diff in it, that's still cheaper than depreciation on a newer car/$10000 in mods you will put into the next car

I wouldnt neccesarily say its because I supercharged it. I think everyones diff whines somewhat. Unless its brand new

The only death trap for our diff's is wheel hop, and if you bang a gear too hard

I dont launch my car, nor do I track it.

So spend $1200 and buy a new gen 4 diff from gmparts. Seams like an easy cheap fix if you dont beat on it.

that's funny you mentioned that cause I totally forgot that I still have a warranty on this thing.

We'll that turns this issue around

nice it is nice when things actually break within the warrenty period

Warranty? Oh shat, just dealer hop until someone replaces it. I got 5 or 6 rears while I was under warranty.

When I sold my V1 it didn't whine at all (4th gen with 18k miles on it).

I'd like having a whine so it would sound like a blower car...

I blew my diff 2 days after I bought the car in 2010. Bitch grenaded on me in second gear with my dad telling me how great of a car it was lol. Warranty replaced it and towed it and what not, but if I could do it again I'd go with something more reliable. Like a c6 or a c5z

Performance wise, I freaking love the car as a daily. As far as fit and finish.. its nasty, in a bad way. I think for high teens you can't beat the v1 if you are a performance guy looking for a good daily and something kind of nice. I'm going to daily mine for a few more years then switch over to a v2 wagon most likely. Easier to justify to the old lady and is very practical for kids and pets and can still be taken out with boys on Saturday for a little fun.

If you can get $25k, sell that biotch right now. I have much more money tied up and couldn't get that. And I have the bullet proof rear.
