Default Sorry but...spec my cam?...LQ9 408.

I've been researching for weeks and still can't pull the trigger on a particular part number...

This is the first motor I've totally spec-ed on my own so I'm a bit apprehensive I guess.

LQ9 408
4" stroke
12:1
243 PP heads (already had them from a blown up 5.7...they're still good)
LS6 intake
42lb injectors

This is going in a 3800lb off-road race truck. Stall in a 4L80 is about 3k but I often run in a 2:1 low range so that throws in another factor...

I want a max torque engine. This style of racing is a constant barrage of mini drag races in the dirt. Constant 0-60mph runs.

I need a rock solid idle as well and it'll be idling around 1000rpms to keep the hydro steering pumps turning (full hydraulic steering...if the engine ain't running you ain't turning).

I know...not your average request...thoughts from anyone?

Id look at a mid 230s cam, maybe even an ms 3 or 4....they are bigger cams in a stock cube motor, but mid sized in a 408 to keep your lower torque up. I was running a 4,000 stall and daily driving my 408 with a 255/271 .624/.624 115 lsa cam

Honestly, in your case, I would call Geoff at EPS and give him the run down.

I would run something like a 239/242 LSL/LXL cam on a 112LSA 109ICL.

That worksheet is all kinds of screwed up on any browser I view it in. I'll put some info where I think it's supposed to go. Thanks.

Will an MS3 still have a little lope in a 408? would it be comparable to a 228r in a 6 liter?

Yeah we need to get it updated. Surprisingly it looks best on Safari on the iPhone. Which is weird since it is supposed to optimized for Internet Explorer.

What more info do you need that's not in the thread here? Call Allan over and tell him to look at the screen.
