Leaving Shaw AFB, at the end of the month and headed to McDill AFB. Sumter really did not have that many gear-heads or shops so progress with my swaps, morale and motivation suffered. Hoping to link up with a few good guys in the Tampa area so I can learn and complete(stock tune) my projects before my next PCS move. Ex-vet :usa:...and military spouse (yes I am a dude :eyes: lol) so I don't have a job yet (Let me know who needs a System Admin in the IT world), but all are welcome to turn some wrenches while downing back a limited supply of Stella Artois and limitless Bud lite :chug:

We are in the Tampa area and the car scene in this area is still going pretty strong. There are quite a few shops and good tuners in the area that should be able to help you out with anything you need. Coming to Tampa from Sumter will be a big change of pace for you.

I've been stationed at Macdill for a little almost three and a half years now. There are some really nice areas, but if you aren't already, be prepared for a hoa in almost every subdivision. I don't drive my T/A anymore, as it's been sleeping since I bought my new DD, a Lightning, but we still have the GTO as our family car. I'm always willing to share my very limited time helping others, especially on cars. I'm out in the Brandon/Valrico area. Welcome to Tampa, I hope you enjoy it here.

Thanks guys. I found a 3 car garage spot in Riverview so both C10 and Lemans will be in the garage...appreciate any help I can get especially in the welding department. Been saving for a year to get a mig\plasma combo for basic welding projects. Maybe even take a community college class or two, while I job hunt.

Well my job has kinda changed directions lol. My deployments are usually, "Do you want this assignment or pass". I don't normally turn them down. This one has been particularly interesting to say the least. I usually deploy, build car, return...deploy again, build car more, return. Endless cycle.

I see, so basically I should befriend you and it would go something like this prior to your deployment, "Bro, we both know you want the bigger and better part, let me take it off your hands so you can allocate the funds towards said bigger and better part," lol. I am going to check out your build thread. How is the tuning scene down there. I hated South Carolina, and miss Atlanta.

Dude, tuning everywhere and some of the best. Jeremy Formato is a legend in the LSx world, he's here. Phil (tampa tuning) is great, and there are a ridiculous number of independent tuners around. Tampa has one of the best car scenes in the southeast IMO.

3 car garage is small here in FL cause you dont have the basements like up north. so my 3rd stall has a pile of junk i.e. tools spare parts bicycles etc. The only real BS the HOA came down on me for was my mail box post needed repaint. So far aint too bad I just came back from a TDY today.

I am doing the stereo on Monday or Tuesday..my box just arrived at my Grandparents in Orlando where I order all my car parts due to the fact they are home all the time and have a lot of space..I moved to Tampa about a year ago and just moved my baby down here this month. Still trying to get into the car scene. I hang out in Orlando mostly but would like to meet a few Fbody people who are local..PM if you are local I need shit to do or some people to cruise with. Also when you move down here send me a PM we can go for a :drive:
EDIT I have a really good friend of mine who has been doing stereos for about 4 years now who is going to help me do it. Pic of the custom box.

Any of you guys in the Comm squadron over there? I'm a Reservist down at Homestead and looking to do my Seasonal/OJT at MacDill. I got back home from BMT and Tech School about a month and a half ago and I've just been waiting for my Unit Training Manager to work out the details and get my orders cut but it's been somewhat of a hassle.
Other than that I'm an IT nerd and looking to move over that way from Central Florida. Love the coast over there, have family that way, and def prefer the fishing on the Gulf vs. the Atlantic. If I do get to go over that way I'd love to meet up with some fellow gearheads even though I no longer have an LSx powered machine :(.

Just a quick update for you guys. I am officially cursed here in Tampa. I managed to lose 3 vehicles in 5 days as of last Sunday. My '05 Ram 3500 struck something on the interstate, that dinged the pan and sent a gallon of oil spraying along the expressway which resulted in the pistons playing peek a boo with the block. Whatever struck the truck bounced up under the u-haul trailer carrying the 'Vette and cracked the radiator (this I found out yesterday while heading out to explore Riverview) Had to stop ever mile to fill it up with Publix's finest H2O. Then when I get the car home, I decide to take solace in my 300ZX which suddenly won't go into gear after all this time, because the slave cylinder failed. Its not the end of the world...but damn....lol.
