I have a full weight car with just a small cam 224/230 and a vigilante 3200 stall. Was thinking about putting a set of tires on it. What height tire would you guys suggest running with 3.23's?

As small as possible, which is basically a 26.0"

Can somebody do a quick breakdown as to how tire height and gear ratio affect 1/4 mile performance? I understand the theory behind a taller tire having to make less rotations to get down the same distance of a smaller tire. Just trying to learn a little something in the process.

Taller tire ~ Numerically higher gear ratio. Gearing isn't a modification you do to greatly enhance quarter mile performance. The main point to changing gear, is to set your RPM where it needs to be for certain parts of the track. Ideally you want to set the car up so that you are crossing the finish line a couple hundred RPM after peak power, in 3rd gear (since you're an A4).

stock tire size diameter = 25.66
putting 28" tires on is the same as changing rear gear from 3.23 to 2.99.

This is good information to know. I have been looking at 26" tires and there are small variances. Is it worth it to find the shortest "26" inch tire? I did some reading today and have been looking pretty hard at the 315/35-17 M/T ET Street radial II they run a little smaller than 26" so that should help. I refuse to put any money in the rear to change gears. I know the thing is going to blow up one of these days. I figure I may as well keep the money and put it toward a new rear. Feel free to throw out tire suggestions for me too. I'll be buying something sooner than later.

the 25.66 diameter stock tire size is referred to as a 26" tire.
