Default lt1 intake elbow

Real silly question but don't they make a stock elbow without that stupid tube going down to the water pump? I swore they did but can't find it.

Are you talking about the resonator? The 1LE elbow does not have it.

There's one for the opti then a larger one for the resonator right? Does the 93 one have both closed off?

The one for the 93-94 doesn't have the provision for the Opti venting b/c it wasn't a production thing at the time. You could achieve it by punching a hole in the elbow to plug the intake vent tube into, but that would just look tacky, imho.

The resonator/silencer/donkey dong is the tube that hangs down from the stock LT1 elbow. If you want a stock looking elbow that does not have that, get a 1LE. If your car is a stock 93, get the one for the 93-94 model years. It won't have any holes in it for opti venting. If your car has been modified to accept vented opti's, get the 95+ model.

The 1LE elbows are closed off on the inside. No size difference.

Question Even sillier question

Can a stock elbow that has lost it's resonator simply have the hole plugged and still function right?
(94 formula L1 w/ stock air intake)

Yes. I took a cap off a can of Krylon spray paint, put electrical tape all around it, then zip tied it, then some more electrical tape to be safe. I've seen guys where it'll get sucked off and keep the throttle body blades stuck open.
EDIT: use a black spray paint can top, black electrical tape an black zip ties so it doesn't look all hacked.

A lot of people used to used lids off stick deodorant, Pert shampoo bottles etc. It needs to be something oblong/oval because that hole is not round.

FYI the 95-97 1LE elbow has the provision for the Opti vent, but it is not punched all the way through. You can run it on a 93-94 car no problem.

Could be manufacturing tolerances I guess. I had to punch mine through when I went to the vented Opti.

Trick Flow makes a nice polymer one, probably about the same price for what the 1LE sells for.

Concerning this issue, there are two part numbers(two type 1LE elbows).

I mistakenly ordered the wrong one(from GM) and it didn't have the vacuum line port for the Opti....I got the right part number(for my '96) and it came with the opti vacuum port.
