I got a little bored tonight and decided to paint my valve covers.
Tomorrow they will get a few coats of engine pain clear.

Everything was cleared with high temp engine paint. The stripe is the same chevy engine orange. I'm not Chip Foose when it comes to painting but, I try to make this turd look good.

I like the stripe, very original I don't think I have ever seen that done before.

Those look pretty good. What kind of primer did you use? red oxide high build?

That was actually red engine paint. I painted them red and hated it. I was just mocking up the trimmed coil bracket in that picture before I had finished stripping the valve cover.
I used the hi-temp engine primer and semi-gloss black. Then I dusted them with the Hi-temp clear to give them a little bit of that crinkle look.

Ahh ok I just used regular black paint and then used the high temp clear over them. I was going to do a red stripe to match the coil packs but the engine is chevy engine orange.

Kind of unrelated to engine prettyness, I'm going to do a little test with some heat shield between the valley cover and my intake manifold. I've seen old hotrodders coat the bottom of their intake manifolds with a ceramic material to deal with heat. Not sure if it will do anything but, it doesn't hurt to try.
