Street Racing & Kill Stories - Ported/Pullied Cobra destroys my WS6

So after watching Sonnen get his face pounded in by Anderson Silva. I left the UFC party and drove by a local In N Out. Saw a bunch of cars there, seemed like mostly fox bodies.
I roll up and see this beautiful black Termie. I small talk with some of these guys for a bit, and met the owner of the Terminator. Chill guy that was down to run for fun.
His mods were: Pullied upper and lower, ported Blower, and full exhaust tune and suspension but with street tires. He dynoed around 500 rwhp I believe.
My car is an 02' 6 speed WS6 with stock 3.42's.
My mods: Small cam, lid, headers, and Nitto 555r's... Dynoed 390/365
I knew I would get beat, but just wanted to see by how much,. And who knows, maybe heat soak tactics might have helped ??? lol

Started in the wrong gear on the first run, second run was a more accurate outcome of what it SHOULD look like.
Result: I lost by about a solid bus length if not more, from 40-130
I stayed even a bit at first, probably due to his lack of traction.

Its all in fun... the first run was a throw away run, i was in the wrong gear 3rd at 45 mph... Second run was better.. 2nd gear at 45mph.
Some ported heads, gears, and other bolt ons for me would make it interesting.
That was one Bad termie though, lol.

i was thinking that car made more than 500whp...he peaced the fuck out when he caught traction.
i really don't see the bad side of racing like that. "friendly" runs should be just that. there should be no shame in losing unless you're racing a heads up class or something. otherwise, the playing field is wide open (as this guy proved) and these are street cars, not race cars.
i've been gettin my ass kicked lately in regards to racing. oh well. i can't be mad about something i have little investment tied up in. after i do some modding i might feel differently haha.

Im glad i read all the comments first. Because i was about to post this long as shpeal about how that car def is NOT an eaton car. The whine shouts whipple. And him peacing out the instant he gets traction on your car was a good sign as well. If that was a good running eaton car, you prob would have lost by about 2-3 cars assuming he got traction.. if he didnt, he might just edge you out.

Yeah, that's fucking dumb. What difference does it make if it's a friendly run? Any time anyone has asked about my car I've told them and showed a graph. If someone's faster, cool. You have a faster car. There will always be someone faster out there too. I've told everyone I don't race for money so idc if they know.
Honestly OP, if that was a whipple'd cobra, you did very well. I would have expected a lot worse of a defeat.

Yeah Billy over at ForceFed tuned my car, ive been going to Forcefed for the past 11 years with my LT1s and LS1s.

He's a stand up guy and when he told me about this run this morning over the phone we were just cracking up. Also almost 95% of the people i run into with modded cars LIE about mods. You guys who are bitching about not telling what he had act like money was on the line.

Everyone there I talked to was pretty cool, lol, especially when a lone F-Body just rolls up on everyone out of nowhere.

I heard the owner of the trans am was being somewhat cocky. I heard he was trying to pick on a stock 2004 mustang gt lol.
One thing I forgot to add after talking to Matt earlier. There was a bone stock 2004 GT out there that night. Well on his way to In and Out burger this same WS6 was revving up and taunting him, then dowshifting and punching it on this Stock GT. So the GT raced him anyways and got destroyed with his 220 rw. Well the O.P must have seen where the GT exited the freeway and came back. He seen all the cars in the parking lot and came in all cocky barking his exhaust. Immediately he went up to the group of guys asking who owned the Cobra because he wanted to race it for MONEY. Well while Matt was eating his burger across the parking lot the owner of the stock GT told him the story of the WS6 taunting him. So Matt figured fuck it, payback is a bitch lol. Plus the guy came up to him assuming it was an Eaton car, He never asked if it was Whippled or anything else.
So the O.P has 390 rw picking on a 220 rw car that didnt want to run. Thats 170 rw difference. Matt lied about his numbers so he could give the O.P some of his own medicine. Thats how the game gets played fellas. Dont pick on cats and not expect to get picked on back...

I actually chatted with Joe the owner after for a good while, cool dude.
I didn't know it was stock, it sounded loud and looked lowered...yah never know.
I guess Karma came full circle and annihilated me. lol, let's not confuse confident and assertive with cocky though. :)

Yeah, I think it would be a decent matchup. My car makes a bit more power, but yours has the weight advantage. My trap was close to the same, but my ET sucks because CTS-V's aren't that great at the strip, & everyone knows they have the shittiest rear end known to man so I never launched the car hard off the line.

I think he was just trying to state the way it was perceived by the other guys out there, who knows, like I said I wasn't there.... I know someone who was hiding some mods and the person who he bought the parts from and tuner told others and word got out lol. I thought it was pretty damn funny actually.

Matt doesn't hide his mods. "IF" his story regarding the OP was true, then he was just giving him a taste of is own medicine for messing with the much slower 2V GT... If it wasn't true, then it was all in good fun.
Anyhow, Matt just recently installed the whipple on his car & it has yet to see the strip, but we will know what it runs on Aug 21st.
As far as comparing a Z06 vs. Cobra, & a WS6 vs. Cobra, these are 2 VERY different comparisons. A WS6 weighs almost 500 lbs more than a C5 Z06, which makes a HUGE difference in the outcome of a race.
I doubt the OP would do what you did to that cobra even if he got heads and a 150 shot. But he can try lmfao.

I would guess around 130 would be the norm for a whippled cobra.
I dont see why he thinks an f-body would need more than heads,cam and nitrous for that lol. A bit cocky there.

Matt doesn't hide his mods. "IF" his story regarding the OP was true, then he was just giving him a taste of is own medicine for messing with the much slower 2V GT... If it wasn't true, then it was all in good fun.
Anyhow, Matt just recently installed the whipple on his car & it has yet to see the strip, but we will know what it runs on Aug 21st.
As far as comparing a Z06 vs. Cobra, & a WS6 vs. Cobra, these are 2 VERY different comparisons. A WS6 weighs almost 500 lbs more than a C5 Z06, which makes a HUGE difference in the outcome of a race.
My z06 weighs 3150 and I'm pretty sure my formula weighs like 3400 or somewhere around there. Yeah, theyre not totally equal, but I'd be willing to bet he'd still beat him with a set of heads and a 100 shot. I have ported 243's on mine... And that was with me on street tires rolling into the throttle. Maybe a 125 shot for him, but still, it is what it is. I expected much worse of a beating if that was a 2.9 whipple cobra.

Nobody is being cocky, you guys are making this a big deal just because that chevy lost lol. I don't know if you guys missed the part where the OP himself said his car traps around 112 with 390rwhp. It should be trapping a little more. Like i said not all cars run the same. For these actual 2 cars the ws6 probably needs 700rwhp to run even with the cobra lol. I think he was running the same times or worse then a bolt on ws6. Im not trying to be a dick but it is what it is.

High 130's or more for a properly setup 2.9L Whipple car. 138mph should be no problem.

Yeah i agree 112 is mild bolt on territory. But usually the Heads/Cam nitrous setups i see are 130-139mph cars. One down here on a 200shot decimated a 137mph GTR from a roll, all on stock bottom end. That's why i said he's a bit cocky if he thinks a heads/cam nitrous setup wouldn't be enough.

The owner of the cobra hasn't said that because he knows nothing about the trans am. That was me saying heads/spray won't be enough.

FYI i saw a 04 cobra with 600rwhp 2.3 whipple go 10.3@133 in 95 degree heat with the d/a being around 2700. The only weight reduction is drag wheels and a solid axle. My other friends 630rwhp trapped 132-133 in a more then full weight 04 cobra. The 2.9 should go mid to high 130's IF once again IF it's driven properly.

what eaton cobras do you know of that make anything close to 650?? A strung out ported eaton barely nears anything over 500... and even thats not the easiest thing.

2 of em around here, 1 at 550 another at 630. Not saying its easy or recomended as their IATs are hot, blower is out of effeciancy and certain detenation is on the horizon. Def not something I would be a party of.

As far as I'm aware there are ZERO Eaton cars at that level. The most I have ever seen was in the 51X range, I'm sure there might be a few in the 52X range but anything higher than that and I would have to see proof. 630 just isn't happening, that is 100+ more Rwhp than 99% of other "maxed" out Eaton cars.

I can believe 550Rw with proof if it is a perfect combo. I can not believe 600+.
EDIT:
After research two have hit 600+... One exactly 600 and the other 608... Nobody else has come even remotely close to that with documentation.
These were (1 was a shop car) race gas/prepped for dyno/full bolt ons head work cams/etc etc on "happy" dynos going from what everyone is saying.
The way you drive the car on the street and not a generous dyno, you won't see anything close to that. Looks like with head work, cams, race gas 540Rw is doable with perfect conditions but not likely.

Have no idea what they run cause theu haven't been to the track. I have seen the dyno sheet from a tuner in northern IN. Dyno #'s may be off don't know because I never use him I go to detroit. Just relaying what I seen.

I don't know these guys that well. Everytime I've seen em I've been in my truck. Sooner or later ill run into em with car and see how respectable those numbers are. Believe me, I can't wait as they are always rodding around like they own the town. Crap maybe they do. One thing for sure they won't own me when we line up.

Over 530 with a port is uncommon (except for happy dynos). It is possible, but with almost every bolt on to support the "heaton".

It just isnt gonna happen, and if it does itll be for all of 3 seconds before the IATs cause the computer to pull enough timing out to drop it down to 450rwhp.

We got one smart guy here! A eaton isn't really efficient after about 500rwhp. Yeah they can make the power but IMHO a pullied ceaton runs the best. I have never really been a fan of ported blowers. After a pulley a twin screw is the way to go.

A ported Eaton is good to around ~520. Any 550rwhp number is simply a generous dyno. My '03 put down 520/517 w/ a Stg V Steigy, FULL bolt-ons, SRA...ran low 10's with a 75-shot and weight reduction. Still have the slips I believe.

Get a bigger cam and a good set of heads and do it over. My friend has an 04 Cobra with the same mods and my car beats him by a good 2-3 cars every time. He has a good 50rwhp on me but those cars are heavy.
