Hey guys,

I was reading through threads but still need some help... I put in a Volant CAI about a month ago. It was an easy install and i love it. However, the check engine light has been on since. I thought it would clear after some driving? I have put about 700 miles on it since.
Then, about a week ago, the check engine light started blinking when I was driving it pretty hard. It goes on at high RPM when I am 'racing' it. When I drive it normally the light is on, but not blinking.

I installed new plugs, wires and ignition coils. When I ran the codes, it says the O2 sensors in the front are malfunctioning but can be caused by a faulty Mass air flow sensor... So does this lead me back to thinking the intake is still causing the issue?

2005 - CTS- V No other mods on the car.

Thanks for your help!!

There's a chance your filter was over-oiled and it has pulled some residue onto your MAF wires. I'm assuming the Volant filters are also oiled.

Get some aerosol electrical cleaner and gently clean the wires on the MAF. Don't use any other type of cleaner as they can leave residues or harm the sensors.

check engine light not good , blinking cel , no fucking good get it fixed asap , thats multiple cylinder misfire and a good way to ruin an engine . Make sure your wires are making a good connection , you just did plugs and wires and are having problems . Disconnect the maf and drive the car and see what happens . you dont need the maf to drive it , it will be slower but you can try and rule it out , im guessing a plug or wire . And why did you replace the coils , they usually are good , did you use gm coils or msds or aftermarket ones.

I replaced the plugs, wires and coils after the blinking check engine light issue to see if it would fix the misfire as it seemed that misfires were typically caused by plugs, wires or coils. Everything was replaced with GM, but the issue was prior to replacement...

I'm with Bud Racing, check the sensor for filer oil as your first step. Incorrect readings from the MAF sensor will through your air/fuel ratio's off and could be a cause for the O2 sensor being pissed off.

I would also make sure there is no damage to the wires on the MAF and make sure the connector is 100% seated onto the plug. It's possible that you damaged the MAF sensor while installing the CAI, those needles are sensitive.

If multiple cylinders were misfiring then it should be throwing codes for the misfire, it's probably throwing the O2 sensor because the mixture doesn't match what it should which would be a sign of inaccurate readings by the MAF.

Just my $.02

Thanks, I used MASS Air flow cleaner last night, and unplugged the battery for awhile. The Check engine light is off (hopefully not just because of the reset of the battery), which is the first time in a month! Have not pushed it yet. Will drive it for a couple hundred miles before I do anything crazy with it... but I hope cleaning it works!

another thing to check is the little shitty foam gasket they give u for the maf to volat box..if your letting air in after the maf it will act up but im with everyone else..the maf was prolly dirty.

You can push your onstar button and ask them what the problem is and they will tell you the exact problem if you haven't done so already.
