Street Racing & Kill Stories - 10 SS Cammed vs 02 SS 383 ***vid inside***

A co-worker and myself made some friendly pulls today. This was the first run since I slid the cam in my car.

My car is basically a vvt cammed L99 (ls3 lifters), headers, no cats, cai w/scoop, yank ss3200, stock heads, bottom end, stock intake.

His car is an 02 SS M6 car. 383 he built at work, patriot 243's, ms4 cam, stock gears, ls6 intake, long tubes, no cats, lid.

We ran from 40-about 120ish (i let off at 125 but he lifted around 115 or 120. Close run as I expected, but Im suprised how well my car pulls in the upper rpms. He dyno'd 455, I dyno'd 457 unlocked, but I figured the weight was going to cost me.

Good run! I think auto's are the way to go with 5th gens. The gearing is so much better.

Low horsepower on the 383 car He should make atleast 480. Good power on your car for the mods

That 4th gen needs gears to compliment that cam. I'd say 373's at the minimum.

His car is just a budget build much as mine, I really think a fast setup would wake it up, along with gears. This was my first time making a pull since retuning for my cam. It loves rpm, shifts currently at 6900.

I don't see how the gearing is better especially 1-2 in the auto.

Since its a budget build how much did that cam cost you Rhino79? And what kind of headers do you have?

I have MBS 1 7/8" headers. 304 china stainless, 300 bucks to my door.
The cam was cheap for me because we are a mast motorsports dealer, and then I had to get 8 ls3 lifters, and beehives.

its a 383 car.. not a 346 car. That isnt exactly a peaky setup anymore.

I think he may have gears in his plans, and I have smaller brakes, and 17" wheels all around in my plans. I guess when something changes we will run again. Ill be track bound in the fall to hunt for 11.4 or better.

I saw this car on the side of the freeway in cabot today. Any idea what happened to it?
