How strong are these transmissions? Are they strong enough to put into a four wheel drive and hold up?? I was going to change the output shaft and hook it up to a 205 case. It would be real nice to have the overdrive, but unsure on how strong they are!

They're actually pretty weak, I broke my stock one with just gears and bolt-ons at 50k miles.

I have gone through 4 4L60E's in my 98 ZR2 Blazer. That is only with the little 4.3 V6 and 32" tires.

If I were you I would seriously consider another option.

If you upgrade to the Beast reaction shell it should last a while. A broken or stripped out reaction shell is the most common failure in truck applications. We do a least one a week at the dealer I work at.

if you have the money, a 4L65E is a good truck tranny...its got a lot of upgraded parts and is stock in man of the new GM trucks.
