Default How far does the slip yolk have to be in the trans?!

So i got a PST 3.5" shaft and its sticking out of tbe tailshaft 1.75"...the yolk is 3.25" long and the output shaft on the trans is .5" past the seal, so its on the splines by 2"...is that enough?? Car is being tuned monday so i doubt i can get a longer one by then. Measurement from center of u joint to seal is 45".

Thanks Everyone!!

I wouldnt use it. There was just a thread about a guy using one that was too short and destroyed his trans on the dyno. You might have enough spline engagement, but you should only have 3/4-1" of slip yoke showing. Your prolly going to have a vibration from it being too short also. Id call PST and send them some pictures. Make them overnite you a new one.

I don't want to use it. I hate it when there's something lurking on a car, especially something like this.

Here's a pic I took:

I'm showing with the tape how far the yolk is in the trans

I'm calling PST first thing in the am, i would need it to be done and shipped tomorrow so that i could get it overnighted into friday. I NEED to have this by friday!!

that looks bad without the seal, but how u should measure the amount of slip is by marking it and then pushing it all the way into trans and marking it and the distance between the marks is ur slip.

Bottom the yoke into the trans and pull it out 1"...that's were it needs to be.

I know on the 9in I had you could get a longer pinion yoke. Worth looking into for a quick fix.
