Default LQ4 starter compatibility.

I have a LQ4 truck motor out of an 05 2500HD that came with a 4L80E. I am mating a T56 out of an 01 Firebird to it and am using the flywheel that was in the car. Since the truck motor used the crank spacer does that mean I need to get a starter from a car that had a T56? Or will the truck starter be ok?
Thank you in advance

The truck one will work. I'm using the truck starter on my LQ9 block with LS1 flywheel. In fact quite a few of the LS1 guys are going to truck starters. Their mounts are stronger and less likely to break and crack the block.

I know this isn't my thread, but I have a very similar issue. I bought an LS1 starter for my LQ4. Will that combo work as well, or will that need to be swapped? TIA

You spent too much, the short bolt boss is prone to breakage, and it's bigger than the truck starter. Return if you can.
As far as I know, it will work, but ypu'll need the long and short bolt combo.

All LSx starters interchange. The only oddball of the lot is the GTO starter and the T56 bellhous9ing must match as the snout location changed

Some had identical bolts, some one short one long. Just depends on the year. FYI, newer truck starters were smaller for tighter engine bays/headers
