Well with that said, you guys have a great forum here. I am a member of miataturbo.net and have joined this forum for the great wealth of information you have here!!

Lets start off with the car, it was a 1.8L lame POS. Turned that into a turbo version by building majority of my own hardware ie exhaust manifold, full exhaust, intercooler setup, tuning………
Hate to spend money so do everything myself. With the first project under my belt I was very happy with the build. Made around 250 wheel on stock internals tuned myself, car was fun to driver and relatively reliable.

Then, started reading about LSX engines, seen some swaps, the more I looked into that the more interested I become about doing a swap.
One day with the help of my fiend Bozi also a member here (btlegacy) I decided to part out my current setup and start over with a LSX motor.

So far this is the plan.
Motor:
Use sub frame build technique seen here.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...badassery.html
This is a very solid build. Looking to do the same save about $600 here. The FM and other kits are WAYYYY overpriced!!!

Will also use F body mounts as they are pretty slim. Will start building pretty soon and post progress here.

Motor will be hybrid with LS1 Heads home ported and polished and milled .03 to increase compression. Should get me little over 300 wheel with GM HOT CAM?

Wiring: Currently I have the LM4 Harness which is complete and would like to use it for my build. Also have acquired a Buick ECU (0411) which I am planning to reflash.
Will use Dacota box converter.

Rear:
Build own hanger for the rear end. Pics to follow. This should be 1 day project.
Need to figure out how to do the Axel somehow I have to reuse Miata hubs and use CTS inner stubs. Any suggestions? (cheap)

Exhaust:
Will build 2.5 inch to a Y and than a 3 inch single exhaust to the back.

Current part list I have acquired.

Motor:
LM4 Motor out of a 04 Isuzu Ascender
LS1 Heads (will mill down .03, and home port/polish)
LS6 Springs and retainers
GM Hot Cam
Sanderson V8R Headers
LS1 Intake manifold
LS1 F Body oil pan
LS6 Oil Pump
CTS-V Harmonic balancer
HD timing chain (sold by member in classifieds)
Silverado starter
NEED: LS3 Water Pump (the thinner pulley)
NEED: Alternator still debating which one is most economical (smallest/thinnest) to go with

Have heads for sale from the Ascender, cast 862

Transmission/Rear
M12 T56 from a 2007 CTS-V
2010 Corvette clutch with flywheel
TKO 600 Shifter for the T56. This will be custom setup since it needs to be reworked from a 5.0 mustang to the M12.
Getrag Rear end from 06 CTS 3.42 gears limited slip
NEED: Axels / Driveshaft.

Thanks for looking
If anybody thinks I am making a mistake with some parts let me know please.
Appreciate any feedback.

This will be picture rich thread soon since

I am assisting in this build and working on the electrical portion. We are going to use the Ascender harness since it came complete with the motor. The TAC module was also included

He has purchased a 0411 ECU which we are going to get reflashed.

He is going to stay DBW so we picked up a 2011 impala pedal to use with the build

Some questions of mine are, will the Ascender TAC module work with the Impala pedal or do we need to pick up an Impala TAC?

Also can we stay with the truck DBW throttle body or do we need to go to a different one?

What is the best flash to put on the 0411 ecu to work with this combo?

Nice start. The build looks like it might be as much fun as the driving. Good luck

Also, we are looking at different alternator. What smaller cased alternators are out there that can fit on the lower drivers side of the block?

You may have to make your own mount coming off of the A/C mounting points

Better do some research on the Dbw PCM, tacc, and gas pedal as well as the operating system in the PCM before jumping in and buying mismatched parts.

Basically bought the gas pedal on a junk yard for really cheap. TB was on the truck motor already (Isuzu Ascender) and PCM was 35$. Don't have more than 50 invested in that piece.
I did read that the GTO pedal would work just wondering if anybody used another setup on their build.
What do you think about the TB? Could it be used or should I sell?
Thanks

Why do you want a smaller/thinner alternator? Plenty of space in the Miata for the stock location mounted alternator. I got a rebuilt Fbody alternator off ebay fro $60 shipped with no core. Has been working fine for 2 years. Seller name was starters-alternators.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-Camaro-Z...#ht_1046wt_952

Milling the stock bracket allows it to line up with the LS3 pulley/waterpump setup.

Perfect! Thanks for confirming I was leaning that way.

You can't use a 2007+ gas pedal on an older ECU. The newer gas pedals use no TAC as it's all integrated into the new PCMs. Newer PCMs aren't compatible with an older engine without an adapter.

Great thank you for the info.
I will get rid of this pedal and use something up to 2006.
Since I have the TAC from the Isuzu Ascender, any suggestions which pedal to use?
Suggestion to where to reflash the ECU?

Looking into buying pushrods. I had my 241 heads milled down .03 and am running factory head gaskets. Also have a GM Hot Cam, is there a way to calculate push rods lengthe or is measuring a must? Dont have experience in the push rod field.
