12 Second Club - help me win this bet; can I do it?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but just to be sure I want to get some opinions here. first off, I live in FL so we have a VERY low DA. Anyways, a local friend (mustang guy) and I have come to a disagreement in which he has bet me that my car will not run 12's. I have never run 1/4 mile, only 1/8. my car ran 8.74 with 2.5 60' stock. which by what I've seen equates to about a 13.0. now the car will get 2.1 60's (street tires still) and has long tubes, offroad y, K&N filter, ported throttle body and descreened MAF. it is a 6 speed. I have no good current 1/8 mile times due to a burnt clutch, but I have still been able to baby it through to 8.60's. so I'm thinking 8.20-30 range is probably a safe bet. so, what do you guys think I should run in the 1/4 given these numbers?

Take your 1/8 mile and times it by 1.545

8.60 x 1.545= 13.20's
8.20 x 1.545= 12.60's

8.30 is a 12.90ish but with it being a 6speed, it's gonna come down to ur right and left foot! Ha what's the mustang run, 12's......in the 1/8? Ha j/k

get some drag radials and you will hit 12 for sure

Shifting I've got down to an art so that's no issue, getting it off the line I am getting pretty well dialed in on these tires too. his mustang runs 9.80s at the same 1/8th mile. He is also debating my claim that my car gets nearly 30mpg on the highway. I averaged 28.5 on a recent cross state highway trip. He hates ls motors for some reason and therefore refuses to believe any of the beautiful facts about them. He's also claiming his turbo junkyard 302 fox body will destroy my turbo 5.3 stock suspension 2600 lb race truck. Good luck with that one... May just see how much I can win off this kid and maybe then he will understand what all the "hype" is about with these motors

He runs 9.80s? What is it? That is turd slow even for a Mustang.

he has a 96 GT convertable with magnaflow exhaust. he's got it in his mind that my car isn't that fast, because his last car was a honda with an engine swap and a 125 shot held dead even with me. however that works. my basically stock full options daily driver was an even match for his stripped down race car. but mine is slow /trollphysics
I am getting my clutch replaced early next week, and I am borrowing a set of d/r's the next time they have a street night at the closest 1/4 mile. which I think isn't for another month :/ until then I will get some more passes in at the local 1/8th and get my launches dialed in and see what kind of times I can get there. should give me a pretty good idea of what I will be capable of. like I told him, if he pisses me off, I might actually have to mod my car. little cam, little spray, and he won't be able to say anything.

So has he not seen your car running a second faster than his current POS?

What an idiot. Tell him a 5.3 lsx single cab truck with a couple bolt ons can blow his doors off and see what he thinks about that.

Yeah, he's seen it run. But keeps ragging me about "making excuses" because my clutch is gone. But with the bad clutch I am still running over a second faster than him. He's not claiming to be faster than me, just that my car will not run 12s. He wants an actual timeslip to show it even though he has seen me run the 1/8th. Got it all setup, clutch will be in monday so we can see the resolution to this

Exactly I think I agree with Thunderstorm statement. Give your friend a challenge. He is really a stupid guy and creating a hype. The one thing u can do is get some tires for d car and ask him whot all he can do at dat time. It will be a big challenge for him. Wot say!!
