Due to my camaro breaking a valve and completely destroying my head, cylinder wall and piston, i've decided to replace it with a 408. I would like some insight on some good combo's. The car will be a DD still.

6.0 Block
TSP 408 Rotating Assembly
LS3 Heads (maybe ported)
FAST 102/102
Custom Grind Cam ( I have no idea what a good size cam is for a 408)

Any suggestions on the route to take or input before I get started? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You need a cam specs for LS3 heads since they flow different and a cam designed for an LS1 wont put out very good numbers. Depending on your power goals a fast 102 set isnt really necessary. An LS3 intake and a 92mm cable throttle body would be just fine. theres plenty of 600rwhp LS3 cars with the stock manifold. Also decide on a compression number before you start. LS3 heads will lower compression so you will need flat top or domed pistons. As for cams custom grind will work... or look into what the c6 vettes are running.. (LS3 model not the z06)

I was going to have the LS3 heads milled to keep the compression up. Why would the FAST be overkill?

use the fast intake if it is worth 10 more hp.maybe contact Pat-G for a custom cam.

im considering a 408 when and if my original LS1 ever gives up, of the little research ive done this was a good read.

Well the fast may be worth 10 hp but 1400 bucks for an intake throttle body setup to only get 10hp is a dumb waste of money if u ask me. The LS3 will be just fine if your goals are under 600rwhp N/A

Also be careful on milling heads... you need to keep track of your PTV clearance. milling them too much will limit your cam choice.

With the 408, compression will not be a concern. I have a 370 and my compression is 11.3:1 with flat tops and valve reliefs with 67 cc chambers.

dude sorry to hear about the car. I saw this from SDPC and if I can find a project truck to put my LS1 in I was thinking this package would be awesome in the Camaro:
