Go ahead and replace the short block with the updated style block to eliminate the oiling issues of the 98. We can get you into a new short block for as little as $1519. This will keep you from having to go in there again and get you a motor with a warranty. Give us a shout at Thompson Motorsports 972-853-0518.

While the motor is out you may as well go ahead and fab up a turbo :)

I believe the issue came in to play when they replaced them with ARP bolts that required resizing. Katech made some botlts that didn't. I hope your motor stays together for you spinning that high. Mine didn't. The Chevy Vette crate motor I bought to replace it didn't either. Thats how I wound up with a TSP forged 347.

if you are thinking about a turbo get a aftermarket K-member,it will give you more space for all the exhaust tubing.

Take some weight off the front end.

Do a wire tuck and paint and fill some holes. It is also a great time to do a line lock or ABS delete if it is anywhere on the to do list in the future. K-member is 100 times easier to do with the motor out.
