We are putting a cts rear end in a miata to go along with an LM4 swap. Is it possible to shorten cv axles safely to use in the miata?

Yes, contact a local driveshaft shop about it

They press the yoke off, cut it to length and broach fresh splines on before pressing the CV yoke back on. You may want to inquire about changing the yoke to match the CTS diff as its unlikely the Miata CV's had the same spline count

Awesome, we are actually wanting to use the cts axles since they are much beefier than the miata units. In a best case scenario we would like to take the axles and leave the diff side the same but shorten them on the hub side and press on the miata cv to be able to keep the stock hubs

We haven't been able to find anyone in the area willing to tackle this.

Do you have any recommendation for shops?

Since you're in NC, contact olivers in winston salem

If that's a no-go check with import and corvette speed shops. Ask them where they get theirs. You can change directions and use half-shafts instead of solid axles, similar to how C4's did it. Those literally are half a DS, so any DS shop can build one to suit

Thanks Pocket. We sent some stuff to Moser so we will see what they come up with
