Im looking at picking up an 06 gto tomorrow if all goes well. From what I can tell it has a full 3inch exhaust. Its and A4. Ive owned a 99, and 01 trans am and i know the problems that comes with them like headlights, rearend really weak, ect....i guess im asking is what kind of problems are common on these types of cars. Ive seen half shafts? and driveshafts? but only if you get over a certain hp. Thxs guys info would be great!!!:hail:

People don't condition the leather so they dry out in the heat.

It happens.

Yeah, I picked up mine last august. Didn't think to look over the seats I was so excited about finding one that the paint was not chipping, the car hadn't been modded etc.. Finally three weeks later I was cleaning / conditioning the leather seats and I noticed the driver seat tore, in that exact spot.. so lame :(

The worst issue I had with my seats was that the dealer tried to cover the rip with glue and spray paint

So ive searched and search and searched. Are the rear ends junk on an a4 with just exhaust? Ive seen ppl say that its alot stronger then a fbody 10bolt. Thxs. And after the suspension problems i hope i still made a good choice in car lol.

Fbody like camaros and firebirds have the same rear ends as s10 trucks, very little rear ends that can not take torque lol.

So what kind of durability is exspected if it never sees a track. And only seeing a preload of 1500rpm launch on street tires. Thxs guys

I just bought an 04 and love it. Rides way better than my old z28. Mine will wheelhop if you get on it hard enough for moderate wheel spin but horrible. If your wanting to show off and spin the tires just give it enough gas and it will spin them as long as you want. Mods are expensive though

and now the mods begin. lol. No one can buy one of these and leave it alone. Enjoy it, I love mine. Only other problem I didnt see listed is they eat tires. Fronts due to camber rears due to HP. Just make sure you get regular alignments and you'll be alright.

Well with an exhaust and k&n cai. Would my gto be over 300hp to the wheels? Still have manifolds.

Intake, full exhaust, tune should make 330whp give or take a few... I dont know how much good the CAI do for these, but seems you gain a lot from headers.

edit: the 06 should have an LS2 so you should be well above 300whp stock.

A '06 with the LS2 should be about 330 RWHP stock. IMHO you aren't going to gain a thing on a stock car with an exhaust other than 15#s of weight. I have an opinion on the K&N. You aren't going to be much above that maybe 340. If you have decent driving skills you can get a 12.9 @ 108 at the strip in "normal" DA

Search isnt my friend i guess, when it comes to ?'s about my new gto lol. But this car will see a track MAYBE one time. It will never have anything on it other than a reg street tire. My ? is do I still need to upgrage the suspention? As in, is it a must do no matter what? If so can someone post up a link to what is a popular sponsor for the suspention stuff. Thxs again guys :)

Start with upgrading the front top strut bushes, front radius rod bushes, front tie rod bushes, front and rear sway bar bushes, rear cradle bushes, rear differential insert bushing (or Harrop diff cover if $ is not an option), and get a rear cradle alignment. It's also advisable to get springs that are about 40% stiffer (most importantly in the rear) and stiffer front struts and rear shocks.

Get these things done and it's a completely different car with respect to handling.

With an A4 rear wheel hop is not a major concern. Get the above things done and you'll push the envelope much further out on dealing with this issue.

Next mod should be better brakes IMO... get a decent set of rotors, braided SS lines, and some Porterfield R4S pad all around.

Now your ready for some power mods...
