Drag Racing Results - H/C/I LS2 10.19 @ 126 Yank ss4000 Video

Made a few changes to the car..saved 89lbs, new front suspention, and refreshened the 4L60E with billet shafts, smartech input drum, and swapped converters from a Vig 3600 to Yank ss4000

previous... 10.50 @ 127.9 1.48 60'

New......... 10.19 @ 126.3 1.47 60' rolling into the throttle

The yank seems to hit harder and pull great through the 1/8 mile...I was kinda surprised the car lost top end but the quicker ET makes up for it.

Overall pretty satified with the few changes and results...looking at plate setups and going to see what a 100-150 shot does...hoping for 9.5 range

Very nice! Although 126 does seem a few mph short for a 10.19 ET, any problems on the top end with that run?

That kinda what I thought...but maybe the stall gave it alot of midrang in sacrific of top end....

similar thing happened when I went from my 2800 stall to my 3600 with my old 224 cam/ls1 setup

went from 11.7 @ 117 to a 11.5 @ 116 spinning....

What was 1/8 mile et and mph...clocks are off or you should be about 130-131mph, especially with that 60ft

For reference I was running 10.teens at 129ish mph with a 1.28-1.29 60ft

Your first time makes sense though and seems inline...

What track were you running at? Were the weather conditions similar between your previous best and this one?

silverz28camaro

Track conditions were iffy...at first the car wouldn't hook....

Wierd thing is I raced another car that 60'ft the same time as me, and it seemed like we were door to door til the end of the track, then it seemed like I pulled away ever so slightly, but he trapped 128 to my 126????

I also forgot I added a few extra hp since the old 10.5 @ 127 run, I think this is where my added 1/8 mile grunt came from

Yeah there is alot of debate now with their timers.....I did the exhaust like yours and the added midrange was awesome along with the bigger 4000stall...but getting it to hook first few passes were a bitch...

1.59 60' 10.9 @ 109 letting out

2.00 60 11.2 @ 125 spinning balls

1.51 60' 10.4 @ 125 spinning with slight wheel hop

last pass

1.47 spinning barely while rolling into the throttle 10.19 @ 126

What do you think about the dyno graph...my new exhaust made great power, but at 6,600 something isn't right....valve springs have 20,000 miles on them with a .600 lift cam that sees 7,000rpm shifts... maybe this is my mph fall off...

The mph drop off is obviously where you tapped the brakes, or let off the gas, or turned off the nitrous, or, or.........

might want to change them before they fail.

thats the plan..new cam..possibly MS3, lifters, and springs....should be good for a few more years

What heads and valves, also rockers? She is not happy at all above 6600...definitely valvetrain issues...

Get some lighter valves, stock trunion rockers, nice springs, check pushrod length/preload and you should be golden....

Helped my car out a ton!!

Here is the break down in cut and paste form from the Chevelle site with car description added. Weird the car has mid to high 10 60' with mid to high 10 mph yet ran 10 teens running down a car that had the hole shot and trapped a higher mph.

Brad did say the springs have 20,000 miles on them.

What gears are in the car? Guess I am wondering what rpm it traps at that the springs would effect the top end like that; but still let the car pull that hard in the middle of the track.

Well when I ordered the heads through tony mano he said they were light weight stainless valves....I was also told to go yella terra rockers...but stock ones seemed lighter imo... also at the time of the first dyno vs the second with the new y-pipe I have about 9,000 miles on those springs the red strip springs...I remember having 1 1/2 turns of preload with the ls7 lifters either way I need this lined out asap before she floats a valve to hard

on the data log the car went trough at about 6,850....so the poor mph kinda makes sence now

I'm trying to avoid this entire "chevell" race thing cause I really don't care if they accuse me of spraying, people have been doing that since the car first went 10.89 back in 08 with ls6 heads and ls6 intake manifold....

Here is what I do care about...getting this valve float issue fixed so I can go back down there and run even better..

Did it labor and float the valves in first and second or just third?

first is over so fast i'm not sure if it effects it to much....the 2-3 shift was at 6,665 rpm so it right before the problem rpm...

That particular chevelle is a stock weight street car that has run in the 9s n/a. Not a gutted out race car. Considering the 600+ lbs of weight difference I am not surprised the Camaro won. There is nothing wrong with being smart and using a lighter car but saying one engine type is better than another is foolish. A 4 cylinder Honda civic can be modified to outrun either of these cars. Does that make its engine better than a ls? No... To often small block guys forget their small CI disadvantage to a big block is nothing compared to a 4 clyinder disadvantage.

Nice improvement from the exhaust change by the way OP.

Silverz I believe your ET is correct but the timing system for mph is off in your lane...did you run in the same lane all night...never scene a car top half 21mph even a stock internal will do 23-24mph...and your times increments look good to me even for the 1/8 mile...

My guess you are around 129-130mph really in 1/4
