Default Stock oil pan removal and replace with a Canton

Just wondering if there is any way to get the stock pan off the engine without unbolting the motor mounts and raising it up a few inches. The car does have the BMR tubular K-member. I'm hoping that the BMR K gives me some additional room to maneuver the stock pan out without too much hassle? Also, does anyone suggest replacing the stock pickup with something better while I have the pan off? Any help will be appreciated.

Why not put the car in jack stands, use a cherry picker to hold the engine up, and unbolt the kmember. To me that would be the easiest way.

Widow, I know about your thread, but my situation is slightly different than yours. I don't want to put a cherry picker in front of the car if I can help it. Personally I think I might be able to remove the motor mount bolts and lift the engine slightly, but I'm really hoping that the tubular K-member might give me enough room to remove the pan without resorting to unbolting the motor mounts. Probably wishful thinking

Yes, I know how to use the search.

Angry

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a method for removing the stock oil pan without lifting the engine slightly. Hopefully I will get motivated and finish this up

This. My Moroso pan is leaking from the rear. If I didn't like it so much for the extra oil and windage tray I would yank it and put the stocker back.

I do this all the time. get a front wheel drive engine brace and chain the engine to it. this thing goes across the strut towers. Get the car up on jack stands and support the k-MEMBER

Re move the steering link adn the 6 bolts holding the K-Member. now slowly let the k-member down until it engine brace is holding the engine then the rest of the way. Oh yeah the sway bar mounts on the chassis.

Next undo the engine mounts frome the K-Member and it will come down even more.

You should now have more then enough room to replace the Oil pan. i would use a B&B pan long before that one you are looking at BTW

We have done over 20 cars this way. Works on third gen cars to

Ellis, with that B&B pan, do you have to run a certain oil pump/pickup with it also?

They stretch just fine no need to really mess with them as you are not removing the K-member just letting it down
