arp vs katech rod bolts
#5
just check with the arps.... i just completely rebuilt my 04 6.0 and used arp bolts for the rods. you have to take out the ferrule with the old rod bolts then just put in the arps. make sure everything is spotless clean and when you put them back together make sure the "puzzel pieises line up exact. i tourqued all mine down and measured for round and proper bearing clearance with the new rod bearings before i put it all together and all 8 rods were 100% within spec. i believe you may run ito problems if you let a little bit of grit get into between the surfaces but other than that i dont see them causing any issues.(unless you over touque them or somthing crazy like that) i think you could mess it up just as easy going with katec or even stock bolts for that matter

Yup! This is where there is an advantage to using Katech over ARP. If you're swapping rod bolts w/ engine in car (dropping the pan). Katech bolts are designed not to squeeze the bore as a result of torquing the bolt, where ARP rod bolts can & likely will.

I am running Arp bolts. And I don't really see the point of upgrading the bolts in stock (rods mainly gen 3) the rods them Delgado will fail/bend
long before a stock bolt fails. Might be worth while on gen 4 rods though.
