Default Question boosted 5.3

I have a 2002 LM7 that I am going to run a 72mm turbo on. I have the heads off now..862 casting..installing head studs and ls9 gaskets. I looked at a few valves and i am going to go ahead and do a valve job to them. Questions is..I know the gaskets are .050 , can I take off .010 to clean up the sealing surface of the heads and still be ok?

Thanks

I put your engine specs:
http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/chev...cs-157249.html

into the summit compression calculator:
http://www.summitracing.com/expertad...on-Calculator/

and then adjusted the deck thickness by -.010 in. The result bumped up the compression from 9.49 to 9.69.

ASSUMING I know what I'm doing (lol), I think you should be fine with milling .010 off the deck.

Would be nice for some others to chime in though. I'm by no means an expert on heads.

Good luck.
