Default 76mm and 408ci too small?

just wondering what your opinions are with a 76mm on a 408 are...too small or what?

car will just be a street driven weekend car... not looking to be competing up there with the big boys but a nice 850-900hp mark or so... just wondering cause I'm starting to piece my 408 together faster than expected and am almost to the point of being able to drop it in as a long block to start on the Piping and such...

Too small, especially for that desired power level on a 408.

I went with a gt91 per Dr. Turbos recommendation on my 408. A 76 is way to small.

850/900 at the wheels or motor!!!i,ve ran for years a standard bw s475 t6 1.32ar 96 mm turbine on my 408 iron and it,s great runs 9.7s @144 @4000pd stepping up to an 88mm now with heads, intake etc only because i,m chasing better times!!!obviously if the 76 has a small turbine t4 then it will choke but if not all good!!!! if numbers are at the wheels you would be better off with something 80/88/91 as already suggested!!!! anyway cheers

maybe the gangster s476 that Jose at FI has....You would def in the 1.32 96mm exhaust side.... If it was me, street driven 408 Id have a s480 with 1.32 96mm hotside

The Gangster 476R would have a heck of a time feeding a 408 even. On Matt's 370ci motor its putting out around ~1060rwhp and boost around 19psi-20psi. Good flowing 408 would be tough to keep 15-16psi.

well I' at the point were I can finish building a 408, go with a set of twin 76's or knock it or make it a 370... or just get a bigger single...like a S400SX-75???

also forgot to ask if I'd be able to keep a T4 flange with the larger 80mm+ unit? I've read a lot of the info on Forced Inductions site but still trying to make sense of most of it

Yes you could do a 83/92mm S400 based unit and still in a T4. Makes gobs of power.

that's a nice turbo, good compromise between big power and good spool. I'm making 708rwhp with 14% converter slip on my 390. Looking at my injector duty cycle I'm at 1000crank hp.

We have the unit on a 370ci motor, making 989rwhp at 19psi. Spools WAY faster then the 88mm unit it was replacing and makes almost identical #'s at the same boost level, but mid-range and low end are up as much as 175rwtq.

Quick Reply: 76mm and 408ci too small?
