5.3 question

5.3 question
Did GM make a 5.3 or 4.8 with a 58x crank wheel and no DOD crap. Iron or aluminum? Were all gen IV truck motors aluminum? I'm thinking of selling my LQ4 in favor for a 5.3 but really want a 58x wheel as it will be easier with my stand alone. What's a LQ4 longblock worth these days?

No 4.8L has ever had AFM (DOD) nor is there a Aluminum block (AL) 4.8L. Now all the 2010 up 4.8/5.3 now have VVT.
LH8,LH9, LMF don't have AFM and one is iron the other AL. LH8/9 are AL.
Actually the LY5 has AFM. http://archives.media.gm.com/us/powe...New/07_LY5.doc
Why not make the LQ4 58x you can buy all the stuff to do it. And build it. It doesn't have to be a Gen IV block to be Gen IV. You just mount the Gen IV knock sensors on side of block and you can make a cover for the rear cam sensor. But the Gen IV cam, timing cover and 4x cam wheel. Not really that hard.
