SLP Headers, Cats, and Loudmouth
Howdy,
I just installed all that mess on the car and there's one small problem. i was driving around and the check engine light came on. its been on since (about 2-3 hours now) which leads me to believe that there's a loose O2 wire, but before i go crawling around checking, how possible is it that i burned up a sensor on that little 30-90 run uphill i did when i was 'testing' the system ?

are you using o2 sims? if so maybe one wasnt tied out of the way and it got burned by the headers. Also go under and check to make sure nothing came loose. Also you may want to get a tune with the slp headers. i have heard stories about people loosing power when just installing the slp headers and not going with a tune right after.

no, i've still got my O2 sensors in, there are bungs in the Y-pipe for them. I'm going to try and get under there this week and check (it's very busy here where i go to school). would the light come on if it just needed a tune (and the O2 mess was all still working)?

help, curious about my Baby...
ok, i got it up on a lift today and checked it out. i still have both sets of O2 sensors and all the wires appear to be intact. i guess its still possible i blew a sensor, but i don't know how likely that is. would it needing a tune put that emissions light on?

i tried to hook it up, but here on post they only have diagnostics for up to 2000's and mines an '02. i think that's probably what it would read though so i'll have to take it somewhere to get tuned. anyone know what the going price on a daily driver pep-tune is?

ok, that's good to know. did you notice a difference performance-wise with the tune? unfortunately i won't have time to do it until i'm in the Tennessee area this summer

yea, the tune makes a big difference. im very happy i did it. got rid of the ses light, eliminated skip shift, fixed a/f ratio, got rid of torque management. lots more $hit too, i just dont remember it all. his name is slowhawk on the board. he is really good at the tuning, and once again, i was very happy with the tune

Torque Management is a way for GM to control accessive abuse to the car. When you stall it, spin the tires, and even on the shifts the computer pulls timing to ease the torque on the drive train. the more power you got, the worse it is. although i was reading somewhere, that you can screw some stuff up if you have an a4 and you take it out. dont really remember tho, since i have an m6, i didnt pay too close attention

If that light goes on just call SLP and you can arrange to send them your ECM for reprogramming. 732-394-2109 ext 104 (ART is the one you ask for) they do it free of charge , but you have to pay for shipping and they'll remove the Trouble code.

Fantastic Idea!!! So using these (O2 sims) WILL prevent the SES light from comming on for sure; assuming that everything else is right?
If the SES light does come "ON" and it is related to CAT efficiency, this won't affect performance will it? it is my understandind that the rear O2 sensors just indicate relative efficiency and have no affect on overall performance.

I HAVE THE SAME SETUP AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME. ITS BECAUSE THE O2 SENSORS ARE MOVED FARTHER BACK AND DONT HEAT UP AS FAST AS THEY DO STOCK. I CANT REMMEMBER WHAT THE CODE NUMBER IT IS BUT IT WONT HURT ANYTHING
