Default Is a 8.8???

My question is, is a 8.8 out of an F-150 longer then one out of a Ford Explorer? Over dimension wise or are they roughly the same? Because if it is and its usable I would rather have the axel tubes cute down then trying to have a sleeve made to mate the 10 bolt tubes to the 8.8 tubes.

Only the crown vic 8.8 is wide enough to fit under a 4th gen. All truck axles are too narrow to begin with

You dont need to make a sleeve either, you have to open up the truck housing or turn down the 10 bolt tubes for a slip fit. The sleeve method is an extra step so the tubes can be butted together vs slipped prior to welding

Yea I already got my axel. I got it out of a 97' F-150 and it is wider then a 4th gen 10 bolt. All I will have to do is cut down the 8.8 tubes to make it have the factory length of a 10 bolt.

so you are saying you are going to use GM ends so you can use your axles and brakes? What about the bracket for the springs, panhard rod, etc?
