i have an El Camino front "splitter" that i am putting on my long term 81 Cutlass project. Mounting it is pretty straight forward, but i am wanting to close up the rectangular openings on both sides of the piece. I think a flat "splitter" all the way across would look more up to date, and thats the vibe i am going for on the car. I would like any help you guys can give. What materials to use, what to put in the openings to 'glass over? I will post pics of the piece later.

To properly repair/ remove openings, I,d cut out the flanges & grind a portion of the opening front side halfway through. Then use fiberglass mat & polyester resin . lay up a few layers of mat past the bevel & let dry. Then slightly grind the backside & put a few more layers of mat & resin on back. Then sand front & use bodyfiller to finish off.
This is the short explanation,I,d generally have a few more steps & products to the process.Epoxy resin could also be used instead of polyester. Proper fiberglass repair isn,t that hard, but requires several products & more basic knowledge than can be typed in a paragraph.
